If he had no faith in his own vaccine the media would use that to fuel longer lockdowns for at least five more years until they made a "better" vaccine. 5 years was how long they were saying it would take to make the vax in the first place.
So Trump pushes out the vax. It has some bad long-term side effects like infertility. He knows this, but pushes it regardless. Big Pharma is exposed. The skeptics are validated. Trump would be blamed, but so would the medical industry and propaganda machines. No one would trust big pharma ever again. People would start critically looking at what we inject ourselves with. Parent's would hesitate before lining their kids up to get poisoned by vaccines. Unlike previous wars, the casualties of this war are the brain dead sheeple who line up to be experimented on. It's estimated that half of American children will have autism by 2032. We need to stop poisoning our kids NOW.
The alternative? We stay locked down for 5 years before they present us with a vaccine. More people would take it after 5 years of lockdown hell just because they'd be so fed up by that point and during all that time gov. would have used the crisis to impose more totalitarianism. And half of our children are damaged by vaccines.
Trump will sacrifice his reputation just so he can save more people in the long run. Trump has voiced his disdain for vaccines and their link to autism before. Why would that suddenly go away?
