Many I have seen are domestic issues where a parent without custody “kidnaps” their own children (our modern society is intentionally designed to split up families by putting immense financial pressure on the poor and inundating them with propaganda about consequence-free random sex for pleasure), but if it was as successful as they say, there would be fuzzy stories of reconciliation all over the place.
Who knows? But we have smartphones- why aren’t Amber Alerts sent with pictures? Do they not want the child’s real parents to recognize them?
I cannot personally give any strong determination one way or another, but it is exceptionally disturbing that a convicted child trafficker is immediately given a leadership position at a kidnapped child finding service upon her release from prison for the crime of child trafficking.

Many "abductions" are also a biological parent taking off with the kid and running off from their spouse. We need actual statistics on kids who disappear and it's not a parent that disappeared with them.

yes, there are thousands of kids that go missing every year, but hundreds of thousands? in a single country? there were 3.8 million Births in the US, having 460k go missing EACH YEAR would mean that, considering that more than one baby per pregnancy is quite rare, for every 8.2 Mothers, ONE WOULD HAVE THEIR CHILD STOLEN, PER YEAR.
Do you see how absurd this data is? can you THINK about it? the data is CLEARLY 99% "teenager ran away" and "my daughter didn't come home at the expected time", because THAT TYPE OF MISSING CAN REPEAT ITSELF, unlike the "missing children" which are never seen again, thus, CANNOT be added twice.

just to clarify: not saying there are few children going missing, nor that this isn't a global problem in large scale, but around A THOUSEND each year is already enough, that's 3 children per day.

A lot of 3rd world countries don't even report at all. Even if the number isn't as drastic as many of us believe it is, it's still alarmingly huge. Yet it mostly goes completely ignored because the corrupt politicians are in on it.

Bullshit - 460k kids have not gone missing in the US. There are an average of 460k kids reported missing every year. OP do a little more research and tell us how many of those kids are found... how many of those are simple misunderstandings about the child's whereabouts.
Recovered missing children - 1990, 62% were recovered. By 2011, 97% of reported missing children were recovered. By 2020 it's over 99%.
This kind of shit makes us look stupid. 800k kids missing every year would mean you would have a very small chance of raising a child without them being kidnapped.
