Capital Police were essentially glorified mall cops. I’d hazard a guess that there was ample amounts of incompetence there.

Not to mention probably factions within the agency that prioritized loyalty to various politicians who have one way or another bought or somehow earned their loyalty.

So when the Capitol police have to actually do their job, they suddenly get all scared and feel violated. I guess telling people to get off the stairs or take metal objects out of their pockets is the limit to their job description. I used to hold them in high regard. Although Capital Police are recognized as a Law Enforcement Organization they are not organized as and don’t function as a normal police force. They are not there to make sure the law is enforced but to protect the members and the institution. In that respect they are analogous to the U.S. Secret Service in the Executive Branch. (I am not speaking about training or competence, just structure.) It is not unusual for individuals in this position to develop a loyalty to individuals and the organization that transcends strict adherence to the law. It would be foolish to ever expect an officer to be called before a Congressional Committee without leadership being fully confident in their loyalty. I have no doubt Capital Police did exactly as expected on 1-6-21 and thereafter.

I was listening to someone talked about one of the officers that testified. I guess their social media page is full of anti Trump rhetoric. Of course he doesn't have an agenda and wouldn't lie dye to his hatred of Trump.

And now we know how how 19 Saudis with box cutters took down three skyscrapers with two planes.

Fire them all and replace with Walmart greeters who will at least hand you a shopping car.
