I’m thinking that in the past year many have found new hobbies to occupy their free time, we we aren’t watching tv anymore. I have gotten into gardening, have a new pup, and a flock of chickens, so who has time to watch the idiot box?

We bought a nice big flat smart TV with all the bells and whistles when we moved into our place two years ago. Mostly because we were planning on watching football. The TV hasn't been even turned on in nearly two years now, I have no clue where the remote is, we don't pay for comcast anymore, so I use the money for the good steaks at Publix, although now we can't afford them again. We actually discussed selling that super nice TV, but we thought a blank wall would look kind of odd.

The global community is becoming aware that we are facing problems much bigger than the territorial skirmishes of the past. Our tribal instincts are telling us that our competition and rivalries with our neighbors is far less important than an elite ruling class that has gone into hyperdrive to take control over us. No longer do people believe that a country with 25 gold medals is more superior because they can run faster. Sports no longer provides a safe haven from our problems, rather it has become symbolic and a reminder of the control we are under. Olympics no longer represent “winning” and achievement but domination. You have never chosen the winners, we do.

Who wants to watch that crap? (People who want to be led and dominated)

Being a man who grew up with games and anime...I do feel sorry that Japan got stuck with this particular Olympics.

But then again, maybe that was by design? Outside of the culture stagnating like the rest of the world, they were a culture that still had a decently strong handle on the concept of masculinity.

Wait, you’re not watching women’s water polo? Canoeing? Rock wall climbing? Or that weird gymnastics with hoops ‘n shit? Soon they’ll have every conceivable sport and everyone at the olympics will get a participation trophy. It’s only fair.

I don’t even remotely care.

For 1, people are tired of the media treating them like they are 6 years old with all of their agenda pushing propaganda. For 2, American Olympians disrespecting their country is a huge turn off. Even if its only a couple of athletes in the whole thing. For 3, Live Olympics is in a bad time zone for American watchers so I believe that is having an impact. For 4, Trans athletes will literally destroy the events if allowed to continue and expand. For 5, this is greater trend of all mainstream TV due to their propaganda and obvious agenda which has turned millions off. It's not hard to see.

Did the "Chicks with Dicks" get to walk away with all the gold?

I meant to watch a little just to find that out.

But i couldn't find the stomach for it.

Who wants to watch America-hating athletes, quitters and banal commentators on NBC? Certainly not real Americans.

Sorry to burst the bubble, but Rio is an hour different time zone than DC, Tokyo is almost diametrically opposite. I see nothing strange that NBC halved the viewers, would be interest to see streamers+live viewers to get the full picture, pretty sure -45% has a logical explanation in the time difference.
