I’ve used crutches twice in my life…never did I use it opposite of the bum leg. Anyone else? (media.greatawakening.win)

If the injury is load-bearing, like a sprain or GPS-monitoring device.

Unfortunately he is right but I feel like she still wouldn’t do it this way normally. I did it after lots of practice using crutches and at first I was too unsteady to only use one. You have more leverage to move faster in multiple directions when only using one and using it on the opposite side of the body that is hurt. Also, using when using one you can go up and down stairs safely compared to two.

Multiple years of those damn things. Yes that is the correct way to wear them. Personally I felt it was easier like you said on the same side. I guess it just depended on how much weight the effected side would manage.

Yeah, I shattered my tibia, cracked my fibula... Intramedullary rod in my leg, 6 months of crutches, 2 months on cane and got tired of it -- two weeks into none I sprained the ankle and back on crutches for two months. Fucking worst year of my life.

I've always used it on the hurt side so it takes the weight off the hurt leg.

Sadly, I've had to use them MANY times. Opposite side is the correct way unless it is ZERO weight allowed, but then you use 2 crutches.

I also notice the gold-fringed flag. Since when does a presidential motor car have a gold-fringed flag? Is this telling us something?

Literally took me 3 seconds to search pictures, gold fringes on motorcade cars is the standard. Here is Trump: https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/donald-trump-motorcade-mar-lago-florida-angry-driver-van-white-house-vehicles-us-president-a8078466.html

I've done it both ways. With only one it's like a cane.

She is using it correctly. When you step on your bad leg you want the crutch on the other side for stability.

Had to use crutches several times in my life. Also wore a boot like this for 8 months. Never once did I use both together. The only thing I can think of is she's using it like a cane. To keep her stable while walking. Those boots are very heavy and can be painful when first hurt. She did have some kind is surgery recently, could be that. Bottom line.... it's peculiar indeed

Actually yes. I've tried it both ways. The opposite leg actually works better, for me at least. I'm able to balance my weight better as my hurt leg and the crutch are further apart, not closer together.

(Also posted this in another thread here about this subject.)I have personally used crutches and canes several times in my life (yes I’m a klutz, but I’ve also had a hip replaced and hubby has had both knees replaced. We know about this stuff). So, first of all, she does have the crutch on the proper side - it should be opposite the “injured” foot. However, her feet are wrong. The crutch is meant to provide support for the “injured” foot when walking - so you naturally put the crutch forward when stepping forward with the injured foot, to take the weight off the foot and put it on the crutch. In this photo all her weight is on the “injured” foot and that would be extremely painful. Also, when you leave the hospital after foot/knee/hip surgery, you’ve done some work with a physical therapist. The physical therapist makes sure your crutch(es) or cane are fitted properly. Jill’s crutch is way too tall and is pushing under her armpit and throwing her whole body off balance (hence the outstretched left claw - oops - arm). Additionally the hand adjustment on the crutch is way too high - see how her elbow is bent? This is all for show, folks! This woman (the First Lady?!) has not had surgery at a prestigious hospital and been sent away like that. Somebody picked up that crutch from a drugstore and handed it to her. They never even tried to adjust it to fit. It’s really quite pathetic.

Yes you use it as the extra leg with your good one - you lean away from your bum leg. She’s right.
