Yeah, after Cliff died Metallica went to shit imo....they should have ditched Lars a long time ago.
And Justice for All....It was a good album, except they dicked Jason Newstead and turned him wayyy down, the remastered is alot better.
Been a Metallica fan all my life, and Megadeth has been a close second. I can definitely appreciate Metallica's entire album lineup, over Megadeth's career. But I've always respected Dave and he's been a damned trooper, never giving up. I will always wonder what happened between James/Lars and Dave in the early days of Metallica - as we should all know, the "winners" write the history. It's just entirely deflating to know that a band you've grown up with and music you've revered your whole life, has likely sold their souls to the devil, to become as big as they are.
If Cliff were still alive today, Metallica would be an entirely different band today. Maybe in another timeline......but not this one :(
Interestingly they always sold it as if Dave almost killed them all and that was why he was sacked - Cliff's own note from the back of the bus shows that the weather/roads were fucked anyway. Watch the Icons thing from Gibson, it's a nice chat with Dave imo.
Metallica needed to hang it up when Lars stopped doing massive amounts of coke. They're the perfect example of kicking a dead horse for well over 20 years.
People shit on the black album but it's one of the most well-produced rock albums in history.
Megadeth has always had superior musicianship.
Still blows my mind that 'Peace Sells' was released in 1986. Read the lyrics to that song and it could have been written last week. Just an incredible piece of music. Dave had a bout of throat cancer recently, glad to see he's still doing well and kicking ass.
Don't forget Symphony of Destruction as an example of a prophetic song.
Probably my fav Megadeth song!
Rust in Peace is still one of my favorite metal albums.
Testament's Legacy is another one.
60 years old, beat cancer under a year ago, beat his addictions to opiates, and is still out on the killing road raising hell!!! :-) . I fucking love that man!!! (Plutonicly of course :-) ).
It's not hero worship or any bullshit like that ... He's just one of the best in his genre and makes some of the best frigging music I've ever heard! :-)
Saw them in 1991 with Alice in Chains, Slayer and Anthrax....what a great show! Back when music was still good! And he sounds better now then when I saw him (Mustaine)
UGH what a lineup. Our last show before the Covid lockdowns was Slayer's farewell show here in Louisville KY Veteran's Day 2019. Last time we saw Megadeth was Rock on the Range 2016. There's still good music out there, it's just not being played on the traditional radio stations, especially if you're metalheads like my husband and I. We're going to Louder than Life festival next weekend for some much needed live music therapy.
Gojira is new metal to me :-) ... I really need to find some new bands. Gojira is literally the only metal band I've listened to that started out after 2000.
My dumb ass can't move past the 80s metal I grew up with . Moreover, the various personalities in this bands we grew up with are almost impossible to beat :-) ... It is so hard for me to imagine someone like Ozzy Osbourne, Lemmy, Tom Araya, Bruce Dickinson, or Dave Mustaine being upstaged by someone that was influenced by them.
Lamb of God is on fire. We saw them with Megadeth and they killed it. We try to find new, young metal acts but it does take work. 🤘
LMAO Oh you need to do a deep dive on Gojira. They've been around a LOT longer than you think, frend. 1996, to be exact. I was FLOORED when I read that cause I didn't know about them before their 'Magma' album. My current obsession is Avatar, metal band from Sweden. Discovered them in 2014 and they've opened my eyes to a lot of other great bands. If you get a chance to listen to Sirius XM, check out Octane and Liquid Metal channels. There are a lot of great metal bands out there that aren't getting play on your traditional hard rock/metal stations.
I just saw Avatar for the first time in Boston a couple of weeks ago. They were great! Now on my regular rotation. A new band called Tallah opened for them. Described as if Slipknot and Korn had a love child. They were very raw. It good.
LOL Was just at the Avatar show in Ft Wayne. Tallah were incredible as well. I had heard good things about them and they were a fun set to watch.
Check out the album "Gods of the earth" by The Sword
And also the band Red Fang
Well count me in as a dumbass, because after about 1995 I couldn't tell you anything about music aside from the country my wife listens to. And even she bitches and complains about the new country music, and how much better it used to be lol.
Louder than Life is in Kentucky? Where at? I am southern KY....almost TN. Yeah it was a great lineup. Not a big Anthrax fan, but they were great too.
Louisville, KY Highland Festival Grounds at KY Expo Center (where we have the State Fair every year) LTL site
Ahh ok ty....I try to stay away from those big cities, wish they had one near where I am at! on the lake would be great!
LTL started in 2014, We've been every year since 2015 (had to work) 2018 (canceleld due to floods at old location near the Ohio River) and of course last yr.(covid) It's a lot of fun, but with Louisivlle KY's crime rate (it got bad last yr and this yr isn't much better) I completely understand the hesitation.
When we first moved to KY, my wife and I went to Louisville for our 16th anniversary. We got a nice hotel room for 4 nights, planned on doing all sorts of stuff. We moved here from a small town in SC, and we HATED it in Louisville...we ended up going to Indiana for 2 days to the casino lol...came back to Louisville for the last night and came home....could not wait to get home.
I went to that show in Lakeland FL
About time certain people were put in MEGAJJJJJAAAAAAAAAlllllllllllllllllllllllllllLLLLLL
Damn yall are gooood haha!
I dunno - they are trying to set the world afire, I find myself angry again - it's like we are travelling into the lungs of hell but I believe we are the chosen ones, looking down the cross. We cannot forget that there are 99 ways to die but there's a countdown to extinction for humanity right now so at the risk (lol, do we even count that) of these being my last words I will stand up and mock this bad omen. May our enemies come to understand the architect of our agression if it ever comes to that.
Today Megadeth reminds the world why they are better than Metallica.
Based Mustaine.
Damn! I just saw Megadeth on Monday in Boston. It was his 60th birthday. He didn’t say any of that. Now I feel robbed. 😂 🤘🤘
Megadeth ❤
During the “Symphony of Destruction” video montage on stage, they have a joe-biden-looking-politician holding and, what looked to me like, sniffing a baby.
Great show. Lamb of God was great too. Sorry non-metal Pedes, I know you don’t get it.
He makes the members of Metallica look like the pathetic soy boy's that they are.
Megadeath is my new name for the vaccine.
A few years ago he made the news when he was overseas for saying, a lot of the mass shootings are staged.
Always love watching all the 90's dirt bike videos with all the Megadeth videos! Symphony of Destruction is still a top 5 song in my lineup.
Dave’s been based for decades. Been like a “good” Alex Jones of the metal scene. AND he’s a Christian now as well.
Hook in mouth song by Megadeth is akin to 1984. https://youtu.be/AFRDimvVimw
A little man with a big eraser, changing history...
It's really about censorship labeling on albums.
Watch the video from five finger death punch, living the dream. It's great. So today.

Finish it off with a listen from Aaron Lewis, It gets you right in the feels.

I think Metallica are also based. Clapton maybe wasn't, but sure understands lying govt. now.
Metallica just had a small concert in San Francisco that required proof of vaccination. I don't think they're based at all. I think their manager has a lot of DS ties too.
I, personally, think that they sold their souls to the DS in 1991.
Mustaine was on his way to doing that as well during the 1992 POTUS campaign (he admitted to voting for Clinton despite pushing Perot, but it seemed like that was more due to hating Bush). If metal wasn't killed off (in the mainstream) in the mid 90s ... Right around the time Youthanasia came out ... Dave might have gotten sucked into that shit.
Fortunately he didn't.
If you want to get chills, check out Megadeth's "Washington is Next". If you hate that genre of music, at least check out the lyrics. Mustaine wrote that song in 2006 and it debuted in 2007.
Their song "Lying in State" on Dystopia is another masterpiece about the times ... It's opiates for the masses under cloak as hope and change.
Finally, I wish Trump would use "Peace Sells" at his rallys ... That song is almost 100% about him.
Foreclosure of a Dream is about how Bush Sr no new taxes lie affected even Jr's family.
I love the part of that song where they actually sample him saying "Congress, will push me, to raise taxes and I'll say NO, read my lips"
I didn't know that about Metallica. Fuck that. This is an all in battle - no vax passports or any of that. Freedom or Tyranny. TY
yeah most people said fuck Metallica when the Napster BS happened, and Black Album. At least anyone that listened to them before all of that.
I kinda stopped listening and playing music in the mid '80's ( went back to school and didn't have time) but I started back with my interest in it 20 yrs ago, so missed all the '90's, and really don't listen to much new stuff. Schenker I'm always eager to listen to, whatever he does. You seem to be up on this stuff way more than me. Iron Maiden...I think Nicko's a Christian. If they would stand for Freedom they could do so much good. I just don't know if they're got it in them though.
I'm a big Iron Maiden fan, Misfits is probably one of my favorites though....I listen to them the most. As far as new music, I don't listen to any of it.
Same... But I listen to Megadeth, Pantera sometimes, Candlebox and Third Day, and sometimes Kutless
Saw Pantera too, Dimebag sounded just as good live as on cd....Another guitar great!
Count me in that number. I did buy the Black album, but not any after that
Nah only the lead, Mustaine, he is Christian
I think Megadeth, and several other of the metal bands from back then were/are....Just some of the stuff they wrote songs about at the time makes me believe that. Even some of the actors/actresses like James Woods, Mel Gibson, Ricky Schroeder, Kirstie Ally and several others. It is great to see people you watched or listened to as a kid on the right side of things when you are grown up.
vic walks like biden
I wonder why Rolling Stone didn't cover Dave Mustaine in the same way as Nicki Minaj like here: https://greatawakening.win/p/13zMismKAQ/guise-we-found-our-hero/c/
