Gardening, especially digging when I'm really stressed. Then I sit on my butterfly bench and gaze peacefully at the dahlias, daylilies, tomatoes, kale, roses, whatever is worth looking at at the moment.
Also my chickens, who can calm me right down with their soothing chatter. They think my name is Braaaaaaawh. And I get delicious eggs too. No rooster. Roosters are asshoe.
I also recommend crochet. I suppose knitting would be the same. Woodworking or carving. Anything using your hands that requires a little concentration and takes your mind off of whatever you're stressing about.
I think all of that is pretty unique! Gazing peacefully is just something that not many people do. There is so much vibrant color and life to see and admire, if we only took an extra minute. I love the way you worded everything.
Thank you. I seriously recommend any of those but especially the chickens. They're like feathery lithium.
And if you don't have a garden or a flowerpot, you can always find gardens to stroll in or even nice garden shops. There's one near me that has, I'm not lying, dozens and dozens of parrots in humongous cages. They're spectacular. The opposite of soothing though - very squawky.
Those are the four most inspiring words in the English language.
You have something that's technically awful, unhealthy and lacking in any culture or sophistication... and yet we can't get rid of it. The McRIB just keeps surviving and coming back.
Fruit cake and candy corn are other examples. They're inspiring in their resiliency.
During WWII my father was in the Navy, onboard ship in the Pacific. His mother sent one of her homemade fruitcakes. Many, many months later it finally caught up with their ship. Guess what? Fruit cakes don't last forever, contrary to myth.
I wake up every morning, make my bed, recite the Armor of God prayer (I almost know by heart), set my intentions for the day and meditate for at least 30 minutes on what humanity needs to accomplish that day and what I can do to help. In between all that I have to feed the animals but exact sequence is not important as getting it done and done correctly. It's not about going through the motions, it is about being present and understand that if we focus on these things and maintain a positive outlook we will create that reality for ourselves and those around us. In the evening, I drink wine.
First hour of the day I meditate. If I can't do that I at least stay off internet for an hour. I recently made my bedroom device free so I read or do puzzles in bed and that's it. Helps a lot.
Having faith in God and the knowledge that although a war of good and evil ( God vs devil ) is being waged, God wins. Also changed diet to Fruitarian which is very calming, and quit alcohol too. ( also gardening 👍 )
I was lucky enough to grow up near a farm with a friendly farmer. It meant all the difference for a sensitive man like myself. Thanks for the compliment. You have an awesome day.

I don't think I have anything unconventional.

gardening and playing piano
Gardening is Life, and Playing Music is Freedom. How I see them, those are some great healers for the soul :)
im also trying my best to tame two ferral cats ...
its been a great summer!!
Ferals love to play. I befriended a couple once with a wand-string-feather toy.
these two are soo wild they do not understand how to even PLAY with TOYS ....
but i have recently civilized them with silly cat bowls ;0

Exercise, gardening, cooking, and my babies
Kids , Exercise (lift heavy shit), sex , alcohol.
I didn’t say Sex with kids , I meant spending time with my kids.
I pray at least once a day, and remember that everything I have : my home, my wife, my life, could be gone next month.
So I try to treasure every moment and be the best me that I can be as much of the time as possible.

Do whatever it takes to become more aware, see through the bullshit, avoid agreement traps, adjust, recognise, decide, make better choices. Survive..
Long walks in the Country. Health food at least once a dY.
