I don't know about today's Marine Corps, but when I was in, we had training classes on our oaths, and the special meaning of the Constitution. It was pointed out that while we were under the President as Commander in Chief, that illegal orders must not be followed. And many examples of unlawful orders were included in the training. So I don't know about today, but I would hope that the Corps still trains in the Constitution and its importance to the American way.
Thank you, SkiSkiUSMC for your service. And thank you to ALL marines and all others serving honorably in branches of the US military who are upholding their oath to the US Constitution. I honestly can't imagine what you go through and I don't even want to try. And Ski, I hope you get to see them even before the other side.
I would never think of any of you as devils. Not where there is really true evil in the world and those whom would worship such things. May you all bring glory to your country and be a beacon for the rest of ours that is trying to rise up from the mess we are in.
Itโs actually, and yes oddly in the context of this site, a compliment. Weโre not devils, we know that. At the Battle of Bellau Wood the Germans called us Devil Dogs because we were fierce and relentless and if Iโm not mistaken, far outnumbered. Marines won that battle. We kicked them out of France, kept the nickname.
My Dad was a SeaBee in the Navy in WWII, and he thought of his time serving and building airstrips with his Battalion as the very best of his life. They had reunions every year with attendees from all over the country...families included.
Old jarhead here, but still bound by my oath to preserve the Constitution. Happy birthday, gyrene.

From a Navy Chief, Happy Birthday Crayon Eaters. BTW, Tun Tavern was the first gay bar.
Thanks to ALL marines! They are truly the warriors of the military. Army isn't far behind, but it's the marines who are out in front!
Thanks to the Navy...who gave birth to the Marines.
Pardon me while I leave. This is called hitting the beehive with a stick.
That marine on the right is so big that his weapon looks like a toy pistol in his hands.
Happy Birthday Marines
