Here's my theory. He is corrupt which is a given, but he was given an ultimatum to give information and retire in exchange for shorter sentence.

We need to start fresh with younger members in both houses. We should not have dinosaurs with one foot and 4 toes in the grave making policy decisions that are going to affect the younger generations.
I agree with this to a point. While younger people will bring new ideas and problem solving, the older ones have more experience. There needs to be a good mix. I agree with term limits. If we limit our Pres. to only 2 terms, then congress needs them as well.
Oh, I greatly value the experience of the older generations, but there are too many entrenched old farts in congress with too many special interests groups that effectively "own" them for my taste.
I don't think for example a group of 70-80+ year olds should be writing laws for regulating cryptos when they barely know how to pay for a bill online. These same people had the luxury of enjoying 10-12% interest rates on bank CD's in the 1980's (https://www.bankrate.com/banking/cds/historical-cd-interest-rates/). A luxury that we never had.
Now, these same people are going after stable coins and want to destroy crypto defi and have us go back to putting our money in traditional banks earning a measly 0.5%.
