I've been messing with electronics for over 40 years, both as a hobby and for work, and there have always been adapters and dongles known as gender changers.
There has also always been only two genders for plugs. Male and female.
It also shows the fault of homosexuality. Male to male, that doesn’t work.
What? I have these they are ham radio adapters for hand held radios so this is now a gender challenge? Ok lol
When you need to change a connector to the other gender to connect it to equipment, we call them gender benders. LoL

There are others but I cant remember off hand.
I remember a test in high school electronics class where we had to know the resistor color codes. I'm pretty sure we learned a different memory trick, even in the 1970's.

I'm guessing "gender changer" has been a long time term use, I first heard it back in the 90s from an electronics shop. Cables have ends associated with gender, male end and female end, sometimes you need to swap those. That's where gender changers some in. Makes sense, yes?
If you want to take a hint from this, then by all means buy one, plug in and change your gender...
