We must never forget that the Constitution doesn’t give us the RIGHT to bear arms; the RIGHT to bear arms/ self-defense comes from GOD. The Constitution merely confirms this RIGHT, says the government can’t take that RIGHT away. Our RIGHTS aren’t granted by mortals.
Correct, the Bill of Rights is a list of "negative rights", meaning a list of things that the Government cannot do, not a list of rights "granted" to you by the Government.
Ah but the sentence structure of that sentence is "very 17th Century", and includes a "Whereas" statement about militias, so those who do not like that right claim that it is about militias. Anyone who has ever read a contract knows that is not correct (most [all?] contracts begin with the "Whereas" statements, and these do not flow into other statements, ipso facto).
And then also I like the people who say it only applies to black powder single shot weapons. Which demonstrates a level of pedantry that they of course do not apply to any other right in the Bill of Rights (otherwise, for example, there would be no concept of Freedom of Speech on the internet). It also happens to be a-historical, as there were multi-shot weapons at that time. And that interpretation would also ironically (and I would say properly) recognize my right to own and use cannons and mortars. :)
Also, fuck them. I do not recognize their authority over my rights.
Yes the 'jäger rifle" became the PA rifle, and then the TN rifle.
But we had "volley guns" and other stuff at the time as well. And the multi-shot/"repeating" Girandoni air rifle made famous by Lewis & Clark's expedition was available at the time of the Constitution's creation.
Also, I don't care. The right of self-defense has no limit.
I want superseded conceal carry. My right to my personal defense should override any stupid signs or firearms policy. Exceptions being people's private dwellings, but that is it.
I agree with the exception of home defense. If a felon is going to commit another gun crime they will do so regardless of access. So they should be allowed to keep a shotgun in the home. But the second you take it out, you're fucked. Wanna train on it? You're gonna have to ask your local range to keep a similar version.
After ten years of no criminal activity, felons should be fully restored.
All mass shootings have occurred at public places, because the perp had a gun, and nobody else did. If 60% of the people at the public places where mass shooting occurred were carrying their own fire arm, how many shots would the perp get off before he became the last victim of the event?
Sorry, I do not frequent venues where I cannot carry. That's it. My protection, and that of my family, is my responsibility and my God given right. I do not pass that off to someone else. Anything beyond what I bring to the table is only there as support. That multi billion dollar insurance will do you no good when you are dead along with your family. If I have to put my weapon away, there is no point in having it. And by the way, most "armed" security that these outfits hire are not worth a damn and most of the time will only protect their own ass and not yours. Until the bad guys decide to play by different rules, my rule to carry will not be set aside just to sooth the weak hearted that have no problem living with a false sense of security.
Agreed. I went to pick up my 10 year kid from school a couple years ago with an AR15 strapped to my back and they called the police on me and said theyd arrest me if I was ever on school property again. I took my kid out and have been home schooling ever since. And now he can bring a gun to class!
Problem solved. Their way of disarming us will be incremental. One step at a time until there is no place for quarter. You are right to refuse to knuckle under and are setting a good example for your son on what it means to be free. 07
Shall. Not. Be. Infringed. I should be able to bring my gun wherever I like—homes, schools, planes, stadiums. That I am not shows a government run amuck, and I can’t believe some of the people here are advocating for infringement of my God-given rights.
Long guns in the city being restricted on open carry is fine. No one knows with conceal carry so it should be superseded. Only time you'll know I'm packing is if a bad guy with a gun shows up.
The democrat deep state lets criminals out, does away with bail and defunds police. We need our guns now more than ever. Nothing should ever qinfringe upon our 2A!
The constitution sets forth protections of our "natural" rights. If we got our rights from government then the government could take them away. We can use the second amendment "protection" as an example.
...the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
The second amendment doesn't give us the right to keep and bear arms. That's a natural right. God given. Unalienable. The second amendment states that it shall not be infringed. That's the protection.
Well, given what is occurring in the rest of the world, like Australia and parts of Europe, I would say we are better off with our guns than without them. But, there is some truth in what you say. However, we are far from being down for the count - and that is because we are armed. This is war.
No, we have Natural Rights, not "Constitutional rights." Ideally, the Constitution and Bill of Rights tell the government how it is to function, and what it cannot do to us. It doesn't "grant" us rights or privileges.

Again, confirming, not granting
yeah, no shit...
we are in agreement and yet it's more important to you to pretend we are not
Um...ok?
Correct, the Bill of Rights is a list of "negative rights", meaning a list of things that the Government cannot do, not a list of rights "granted" to you by the Government.
It’s sadly mind boggling that most Americans do not understand this simple fact.
That and the phrase ‘...shall not be infringed.’

Here here...fuck them...one and all.

Penn and Teller's explanation of the 2nd Amendment comes to mind...
Makes me giddy!
Self defense is an inherent natural right and cannot be alienated voluntarily or involuntarily.
Therefore, keep your filthy hands off me and my guns - or else.
Plus which keep your filthy mind out of my mind.
The globalists been warned.
But did it sink in? Doubt it.
I want superseded conceal carry. My right to my personal defense should override any stupid signs or firearms policy. Exceptions being people's private dwellings, but that is it.
I agree 100%
Felons and criminals do not get the same consideration. Heavy penalties and sentences for people that use guns to commit crimes.
I agree with the exception of home defense. If a felon is going to commit another gun crime they will do so regardless of access. So they should be allowed to keep a shotgun in the home. Peoples' homes and businesses. No shoes, no shirt, no service and all that.
People's homes yes. Businesses will only know if a bad guy with a gun shows up.
How big should government be to demand that we be able to carry in someone's business?
My exception would be private dwellings and public venues (school, stores, government buildings, amusement parks, sporting event, concerts, etc) that
provides armed security
lockers to allow people to check guns at the door
has a multi billion dollar insurance policy in case of failure to properly secure the venue.

We just had one.

Truth there my fren. I have liberal friends that for the first time in their lives now own a gun. So, what does that tell you.
We should thank the Bolsheviks for generously providing us with live targets to shoot
In a quest for a silver lining you have struck gold my fren.
Like fish in a barrel. Although, dynamite is more fun.
We don't get our rights from the constitution.
and the Constitution specifically says that
They are Constitutional Rights.
They have been codified in Common Law so our Freedoms don't dissolve into an esoteric debate about Religion.
The constitution sets forth protections of our "natural" rights. If we got our rights from government then the government could take them away. We can use the second amendment "protection" as an example.

The golden statement. Thou shall not be infringed.
You got that right, cousin.
As for your assertion that guns protect other rights....
BILL OF RIGHTS
How many of those rights do we have left?
I'll tell you.
Barely 3.
Well, given what is occurring in the rest of the world, like Australia and parts of Europe, I would say we are better off with our guns than without them. But, there is some truth in what you say. However, we are far from being down for the count - and that is because we are armed. This is war.
Can I get two, please?

Gun control is all about making people defenseless… once we give up are guns we lose the right to defend ourselves!
Gun control is aiming properly and hitting the target!
Australia
Yes and now they are struggling for their very freedom… 🥲
