Owls are fucking AWESOME! Their wings are designed so they are nearl completely silent as they glide through the air. It's only specific to them and it's due to the structure of the feathers on the leading-edge of their wings.
So, if you're a smaller animal with great hearing, you still won't even hear them glide up on you until you're in their grasp.
I have one that comes around every couple of weeks or so. I was sitting there in my yard and night and he swooped in. He had a large wingspan.
He was moving so fast if I would have blinked I would have missed it. It took several seconds for my brain to register what I had just seen. I've also seen him grab a snake from my yard. OwlBro is cool.
