If it's being announced that the Federal Govt, or any other govt for that matter, that they're "looking into" the feasibility or legality of forced seizures, then [they] ALREADY have things ready to launch and may even be quietly engaged in said practices.
Your crypto currencies were NEVER as safe or "fool proof" as you were led to believe.
After all, it's controlled by [them].

NO not at all. Shutting down the internet world wide is almost impossible because of the effects on civilization that will not care what your political perspective is. Internet means grid. The internet has been and is a scourge on civilization and at this point it is too well ingrained in everything we own and do it would be like turning the clock back to the 1940's. That would not be bad from my perspective.
However, people would eventually adjust over time.

And do you actually think that the internet will go POOF just like that?? Some crypto doesn’t even need the internet to exists. Helium (mining) and their nodes is a great example. Use a search engine to fine some more information about that. Think of the helium network like ham radios vs other cryptos like digital audio transmission such as Spotify. If internet goes down, spotify goes down, though a network of radio nodes like Helium would still stay online.
EDIT: actually that first part isn’t entirely true either. Blockchains, while they exist on the internet, can exist on every single computer which uses that asset. For example, XMR (Monero) you have the option to download the whole blockchain locally or use a node where the blockchain lives. In my case, I use it locally. Crypto isn’t going anywhere. The only suckers will be those who keep their assets in exchanges or cloud based wallets
My point is simply this: no electricity, no internet.

Conspire with other world governments to shut down all exchanges, and it dies. You won't be able to use it to buy food, gas, a video game, nothing, and then it becomes useless as a currency.
