Except he isn't. Federal Taxes go straight to the Bank of International Settlements or the World Bank and is literally what pays the interest on the debt to the families that the US Corporation is indebted to. The whole thing is con job from day 1 and our predecessors should have stopped this before it started.
Yes. It is no coincidence that Fed spending went up like a rocket after because of 16th 17th and Federal reserve all done in 1913 rather “conveniently” prior to WW1.
The 17th gutted the structural element that backed up the 9th and 10th amendments. That being the states sent senators to rep the states to the federal government and could be recalled in some cases if the state legislatures were displeased with their representation.
Also for special interests it is way easier to buy off 51 senators now than the 3000 odd state representatives to get favorable legislation($$$) passed. Before they would have to painstakingly go state to state to lobby. Now they only have to set up shop near DC and get 51 senators on board to get legislation that applies across the land. A good Return on Investment in their eyes.
Absolutely correct. Indirect election of senators and the electoral college specifically are designed to spread out the powers that appoint our government, specifically so they can not as easily be controlled by outside interests, and the left’s endless push to make things “more democratic” is disingenuous at best, malicious at worst.
If you know income tax is used to "pay down" the Fed interest on debt and not any infrastructure, then you are justified in being reluctant-time to up the dependents... for the little time left to the IRS...
Look at the dates of the two big jumps on that chart. They have something in common. How do you do it again when the population neither will support nor are capable of war? Pandemic baby! Watch our tax over the next 2-5 years, it will match the other two rises in that chart.
Absolutely. There is so much waste, fraud and abuse in our government. Our hard work and production allows so many to freeload and produce nothing but schemes to reduce our freedom. We need to quit feeding the beast that's trying to kill us. One kid on a laptop can do the work of thousand paper pushers in DC. We work too hard to allow the swamp to steal more and more. The same for states that add their load of wasteful spending on top of the Feds. We should pay 1% on items we buy and nothing on income earned, nothing on our homes and land in the form of real estate taxes. No inheritance tax, no value added tax, no taxes on energy or communications either. 1% Sales tax and that's it for combined Feds, State and local governments. That's it.
January 24, 1916: In Brushaber vs. Union Pacific Railroad, the Supreme Court ruled: that the 16th Amendment doesn’t over-rule the Court’s ruling in the Pollock case which declared general income taxes unconstitutional; The 16th Amendment applies only to gains and profits from commercial and investment activities: The 16th Amendment only applies to excises taxes; The 16th Amendment did not Amend the U.S. Constitution; The 16th Amendment only clarified the federal governments existing authority to create excise taxes without apportionment.
…the [16th] Amendment contains nothing repudiating or challenging the ruling in the Pollock Case that the word direct had a broader significance since it embraced also taxes levied directly on personal property because of its ownership, and therefore the Amendment at least impliedly makes such wider significance a part of the Constitution -- a condition which clearly demonstrates that the purpose was not to change the existing interpretation except to the extent necessary to accomplish the result intended, that is, the prevention of the resort to the sources from which a taxed income was derived in order to cause a direct tax on the income to be a direct tax on the source itself and thereby to take an income tax out of the class of excises, duties and imposts and place it in the class of direct taxes...
Indeed in the light of the history which we have given and of the decision in the Pollock Case and the ground upon which the ruling in that case was based, there is no escape from the Conclusion that the Amendment was drawn for the purpose of doing away for the future with the principle upon which the Pollock Case was decided, that is, of determining whether a tax on income was direct not by a consideration of the burden placed on the taxed income upon which it directly operated, but by taking into view the burden which resulted on the property from which the income was derived, since in express terms the Amendment provides that income taxes, from whatever source the income may be derived, shall not be subject to the regulation of apportionment…
And they are among the most destructive to peace, prosperity, and liberty.
We are no longer truly represented any more, If we were, we would have 1: 40,000 ratio of House members to citizens. As it is, in some places we have a ratio of 1: 900,000.
Actually, Lincoln started it, but Woodrow Wilson was able to get enough cronies on the Supreme Court to affirm it. SCOTUS under Lincoln still wasn't bought and paid for. (Or offed if you disagreed)
Involuntary taxation certainly is.
You will probably appreciate this series of short video on what the tax laws actually say and how the government circumvents the law to overcharge constituents: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLAkSTXk9sO0FE0cpDo3vWp_MvYV_tYkJO
I just started on doing my taxes today and this really pisses me off.
At least you're paying the legitimate government you voted for.

It's the latest slavery scam - debt slavery. My previous comment was pure sarcasm.
Anyone know which demons sit on the BIS board?
Same year they established the federal reserve. Fuckers been skimming off the top, middle and bottom.
That's the gray portion of the graph. Both are ridiculous. Funny how tariffs and excise outdo both, though.
Yeah people think he was a swell guy but he was basically a commie.
And 17th.

The wife has been on to me to do our taxes for 2021 & 2020. I just cant bring myself to do it.

It does only apply to a few; at some point we were all just roped in. Time to un-rope yourselves.

The debt graph looks very similar. Must be a coincidence...
Or eliminate the fed govt altogether
the founders wanted a federal government. they just wanted it to be very limited to things like mutual protection against foreign invaders and such.
And they are among the most destructive to peace, prosperity, and liberty.

The Great Depression was soon to follow
Can we repeal the 14th and 19th too?
My eyes were opened to this when I read Neil Boortz and John Linder's book about the Fair Tax.
Actually, Lincoln started it, but Woodrow Wilson was able to get enough cronies on the Supreme Court to affirm it. SCOTUS under Lincoln still wasn't bought and paid for. (Or offed if you disagreed)
Yeah they never let on they were going to "accidentally recognize everyone as federal employees" and force everyone to pay taxes.
The truth is you don't have to pay. Only employees of the federal government have to pay.
Correct your status!

Or alternatively get the incorrectly paid taxes refunded.
