But when people are off work they leave town and make plans. They'd still be too busy to vote that day. Either you care deeply enough about your duty and privilege to get out and vote before or after work or you don't. Having the day off won't change that.
Keep election day on a Tuesday so ppl have to go back to work the following day. Makes it inconvenient to plan something in the middle of the week and maybe burn 2 pto days to be off. Sure some ppl will take off like you said, but most won't and turn out well be higher, you don't have to vote but it makes not voting less excusesable

FTFY
I vote for a voting weekend, no excuses, you had two days and it was a weekend. Paper only, fully monitored, voter ID, no mail ballots except for severe cases or military. No early reporting, it's punished as sedition. Results announced when final vote is tallied, on Sunday night.
Why do you think I'm on this site lol. I just hope when this is fixed this is implemented for election day. I'm somewhere in between devolution to president in Exile theories
Been saying this for years. It should be a holiday. Your suggestion to use veterans day is spot on. What better day to vote than the day patriots fought for your right to vote.
I fought for the right to vote and freedom, I personally think there could be no greater tribute than to exercise the rights and freedom that we fought for. Voting on Veterans day is a tribute to what veterans served for. I'm good with it and think it is a great idea. Don't just randomly thank a veteran, vote for freedom. If you want to thank us, vote dems and rino's out, so we keep a free future.
Just make NOT voting a punishable crime. Charge a fine of $100 for NOT voting. 2nd offense, $1000 fine. 3rd offense, 6 months jail time. Only way to have mail in ballot, disabled, military. Most companies already pay employees to go vote, so paying people obviously doesn't work.
I agree. But until it cost the average Joe something, they have no reason to fight crowds, drive to the polls, wait in line, cast a vote, then drive back home. The communists made mail in corruption legal and drive through corruption legal. Still, not everyone voted. So, impose fines for not voting. Force them to be active in their civic duty.
Nope nope nope. You have a right to vote, but it is still your choice. Requiring people to vote just brings uninterested parties out. If they don't care, then fine. Stay home, do whatever. People that see it as a privilege or civic duty are the ones that stand in line for hours and are happy to do it.
Can't you see that having to stand in line for hours is part of the appeal of mail in voting? I enjoyed having my ballot at home, being able to do extra research on local issues on the ballot, and only taking a trip to my mail box, all on my own schedule and time frame. What's the point of standing in line for hours and hours to vote? It shouldn't be that way at all. Voting should be widely available and Easy for anyone who wants to exercise their rights. Why is the reality of the situation that even for the lower traffic primaries, people still have to wait in lines for hours in order to take 2 minutes to vote. If anything should be fixed, it should be the huge lines and wait times at a lot of polling places, so that is not a 3-5 hour process just to vote.
You are absolutely right about the speed of voting. It should be faster. Funny how we can buy a lottery ticket along with tens of millions or hundreds of millions of other tickets bought, we can determine within moments where and when the winning ticket was purchased. The problem with mail in ballots is the ability for fraud. There are ways that it can be done, something along the lines of crypto coins. Issued based on social security number and drivers licenses. It can be done, we just need to spend a bit of time making as close to a perfect system as possible.
Now that's kinda communists. I don't mind a fine system of increasing gives for missing general elections being $50 for missing 1st time, $75 for 2nd time and max $100 until the next time they vote. Only for general elections though. This way you have a choice but it comes at a small price that really isn't overbearing if it were ever implemented. Because ppl who don't vote are entitled to that freedom as well.
So far, everything else has been a communist attempt to rig elections. People who don't vote, should be fined at a higher rate. Every American should vote. Or pay a fine for not doing so. Do you pay fines for not paying taxes? Do you spend jail time for it in extreme cases?
Boom. That will cut back on the “necessity” of mail-in voting. Though I’m sure they’ll come up with a reason to make it mandatory anyways.
Covid-20, Covid-21, Covid-22, …
It's small pox-22

You make a good point. Election Day should be it’s own national holiday - during the week so there are not any three day weekends.

Plenty to talk about Monday morning
We need elections to count first
I say we string up all the traitors
Then it won't matter so much who wins

Just a great thought!
symmetry, I love it
I'm down with that
That way I have more time to vote more often
Here's a better idea! Take the day off or get up early and vote.
We have taken enough from Veterans, we should be giving to Veterans.

Love that idea Fren!
No. Pick another day. Thank you.
Sincerely
