The DS is losing their source of funding from nefarious activities in Ukraine and not just the Bio-Labs. Most likely everything criminal we can possible fathom; child-human trafficking, drugs running, guns running, money laundering. In the US, it depends on your income brackets. There is the Fed tax which everyone pays, and then there are the State Income Tax which only same States have them.
The effective rate (post calculation of everything) could go as high as 45%+ in some states, and it’s not like you actually benefits from the vast majority of these taxes.

Ironically, I am looking at an old presentation I did for my old company on Wildfire preparedness. For comparison purposes due to losses from the CA wildfires in 2017. Insured loss (claims) was $13.2 B which was roughly the budget for the state of West Virginia in 2020.
