Currently I am recovering from spinal fusion back surgery which was March 18th. I am trying like crazy to follow Dr restrictions on what I should and should not be doing. Lifting no more than fifteen pounds, is difficult as I want to hold my grandbabies but have been following, bending however is proving very difficult. How do you retrain a 53 yr old brain to suddenly Not do things you have done your entire life? I have been warned that this is my final stop before a wheelchair which is a terrifying thought. Please pray for me, still quite a bit if pain but am improving quickly and nearly off the painkillers and back to my CBD and Ibuprofen 800mg and muscle relaxer only. Desperately wanting to quickly eliminate anything potentially addicting.

May the Love and Peace Of God be upon you, the presence of Jesus sustain and free you from all stress, anxiety, pain and fear.
Be still and know that I am God. Psalm 46:10
Cast your cares on Him 'cos He cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7
Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. (John 14:27)
Amen and Thank You
Amen! Praying
In agreement, in Jesus' Holy Name. AMEN
Breathe my friend, breathe. It sounds like you're doing all the right things but unable to release the tension which arises from dealing with pain, painkillers, lack of sleep and restricted movement. Breathing can help. 20 minutes of connected conscious breaths. Open or closed mouth. Learn from your body where the tension is building and breathe 'into' that area if you can. Burping, yawning, farting are all forms of tension relief. Praying for you too. Well done 👏
I once pulled a muscle in my lower back. Years later I injured my back again, tweaked it. Diagnosis was herniated disc. Never an operation, still, it took me a year to get my full strength back. The reason I'm saying this is to explain my mindset . At some point I came to the realization that all the good 30 some muscles in my back were helping the hurt , damaged ones. They all work together to hold up ,support, the injured ones. Imagined them as the body of Christ, one is hurting ,others gather around, support ,strengthen, speak life, comfort , help the muscle which needs healing.
Over 30 years I've dealt with stiffness and aches morning ,evening, whenever I relax. Remembering to take it slow to allow those 30 some muscles to wake up and support the other. Yes I'm fully healed, yet forever changed.
May the Peace of our Lord keep you thankful , blessings to you.
Thank you. I tried everything for several years until the last two years were quite unbearable praying all the way. I know and trust that through all the pain God was testing my faith as he did Job. I never once waivered. Jesus is my Rock, my all in all and I know God has a purpose for it all for His glory. I want my trials to be my testimony
.....and your testimony is a powerful one, be forever willing to share it ...many will be and are changed by it , for His glory. THANK YOU, sister.
Velkommen
Amen
Dear Fren, I am glad your pain killer use is going South. Sounds encouraging. Regarding your move restrictions, have you looked for spinal orthoses?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orthotics#Spinal_orthoses
Maybe an occupational therapist could help?
I will keep praying for your better being, Fren.🙏🏻
I am using a back brace iften and will be starting physical therapy again soon.
Excellent: physical therapy will help strengthening the right muscles. Be well, Fren.
Good luck with the rehab. Had to go through it myself to rebuild an entire leg and all of the gym rats I've known immediately earned a bunch of my respect lol.
Spent three years from 2006-08 in ohysical therapy from same injury
Thank you
Please consider Curcumin. We discovered it when my husband was recommended back surgery for disc issues. This was part of a natural treatment plan for him that successfully avoided surgery.
"The present study demonstrated that additional treatment of curcumin and alendronate after spine fusion surgery in rat can promote higher fusion volume, and improve bone mechanical strength."
The Therapeutic Effects of Combination Therapy with Curcumin and Alendronate on Spine Fusion Surgery: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5518429/
And magnesium is important too. You can buy magnesium oil, which is not an oil, and is a spray. Use this on fatty areas like rear and thighs to topically absorb mag and avoid stomach upset. Mag baths are another way but Im assuming there's no sitting in a bath after spinal surgery. Best of luck
Turmeric Curcurim is one of my regular supplements and I believe it helps.
Curcurmin
Curcumin, not curcurmin. ;)
Yeah, that, typo
Prayers for you, Callmejuls. May the Lord bless you with fast and complete healing, patience to endure this frustrating interim period and joy in discovering some less physical activities you might find interesting until you're back to 100%. 🙏 Tell your grandchildren that you're saving up those hugs and get to hug them twice as much after you get back to full mobility.
I apologize for spell-checking one of our spell-checking anons and I hope it didn't upset you. No offense was intended to you. I did pray for you and will continue to do so.
Thank you.
Oh, also, quite often When I am typing fast, my keyboard sticks and many letters don’t register, resulting in typos.
I wasn't commenting on your typo, friend, but on the person who was trying to correct your typo.
I'd started reading down this thread as I thought it was nice that someone was providing some holistic remedy that might be worth trying (and you'd already been using), and thought it was a tad inappropriate to be correcting spelling under the circumstances - and then I'd noticed the anon spelled the correction incorrectly!
I personally welcome people to correct my mistakes (and Greekish is very good with spelling, usage and grammar), but if I was in pain from an operation and anguished over even temporary/partial loss of closeness with grandchildren, I don't think I'd welcome the corrections at the time. For me, in most cases, I'm happy to skip over misspellings as long as I can understand what the person is trying to relate. I just couldn't resist correcting the correction - and for that I apologize. I wasn't intending to slide the topic or offend anyone.
My prayers for you and your family for good health and happiness. ✝️
I pray the Lord gives you all that you want in this. There is no reason not to believe that God will do it. Everything has been provided to you in the salvation Jesus accomplished on His cross and in His resurrection, and you have complete access to God through Him as His beloved child in Christ. He is very much on your side.
"Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them." (Jesus - Mark 11:24)
God is into saying yes to us, not finding a reason to say no.
"Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full." (Jesus - John 16:24)
Sounds like you might have some time on your hands. There is a great benefit to meditating on how big God is, how much He is on our side, and what He has promised to us. I say this from experience, having gotten healing and even miracles in my own life just because I believed Him, and for no other reason. I am not special. This is the children's bread, and it is for everyone who trusts Jesus for their salvation.
Just one story to back up my experience with this: 40+ years ago I had to stop running because of excruciating pain in my knee. I asked anyone I knew to be full of faith to pray for it, but when nothing happened, I decided to stop that, and I told the Lord, "Look, I know you had to hear at least one of those people, so I'll count it done." Nothing happened again, and a few days later, during the time I used to run, I heard, very clearly, "Healed people don't lay around on their sofas." I knew it was the Lord, and I knew what He wanted me to do. I went out to run my 3 miles, but I was suffering, and as I hobbled into the last mile the pain started to make me mad. I began to yell at the devil and said, "Get out of here! God healed me, and you're not going to steal this from me!" The pain instantly left may knee, and I ran the rest of the way home with no pain at all, praising God all the way. It never came back. I got healed of migraines, (also going on 40+ years pain free), sicknesses, including Covid with no help from doctors, and I had a bad heart attack that didn't matter. (It was the kind of heart attack that makes people keel over dead, but I didn't know what was happening and I waited more than 18 hours to go to the hospital, trusting that God was aware of the situation and was hearing our prayers.
God will do the same for you and more, and He will be glad to do it. Our faith really makes Him happy.
Amen More than for myself, I am trusting Him for open doors for starting Camp Yesu to help, heal, provide for, teach many lost, broken, hurting in Jesus Almighty name. He put the mission on my heart, so I know it is from Him.
I believe that will come sooner than you might be expecting. When those doors open and you feel released to start, run through them. God will give you everything you need to do His will, and many will come to your side to help you. Only pray that He gives you the discernment to see who is worthy. We've seen how Satan gets in to corrupt things, but that doesn't have to happen anymore. We can stop it before it starts because Jesus has all authority in heaven and earth, and in His name He gave us power over all the power our enemy. All means all, even the power to deceive. The ones who are beginning to realize that aren't putting up with the devil anymore, and those are the folks we need to partner with in a unity of faith and love.
The Great Awakening is already here, and it's waking up the sleeping ones in the church who will hear the voice that is calling to them. Soon it will be like an army popped up out of the ground who know their God and do exploits without fear––a bunch of no-names who seek no glory for themselves, whose numbers multiply by the day. This is going to be a very different generation of Christians from any we have known before. This is the time when the bride starts getting ready to meet her betrothed, and she won't be meeting Him powerless, hobbled, scratched, and dirty.
If it is on your heart, my brother, be bold and show them the living God who paid such an enormous price for their salvation. Show them how mighty Jesus' name really is. Show them how much He loves them––a bruised reed He will never break, and a smoking flax He will never quench. Your reward will be great in heaven, and no one on this earth will ever be able to touch it. Let His kingdom come, and let His will be done on earth as it is in heaven. I believe that you are one who will see it with your eyes, but not from a distance. You will be swimming in it. All grace to you from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
Amen-Thank you. Recently while in prayer over Camp Yesu and asking the Lord questions about it, God spoke to me and said “I will raise up an army, My Army out of those I send you to save”.
Prayers
Thank you
Prayers
Praying for you.
You don't have to "retrain a 53 yr old brain" - you're already experienced at making good decisions. Treatment. GA. Value of family. Value of prayer. Etc.
Just the daily reminder, "I am doing this (not lifting over 15 lbs) today so that next year I can do ....
I've been there. I had Spinal Cord Compression surgery in 2015. I was 59. Grandkids were 2 & 3 yrs old. No lifting over 10 lbs for 1 year. I fully complied. I found ways to play and hold without lifting. Now I lift, carry, play, rough-house, and pray with them.
This too will pass. Go with the strength (and healing) of God.
Not saying it is easy.
Many good things in life are not. They take hard work.
Just saying that you can do this.
Boy ain’t that the truth!
Thank you
Prayers for you. I had a micro discetomy years ago, have not had a fusion. Only suggestion is to be careful on ibuprofen, they say it tears your stomach up. My doctor put me on non narcotic tramadol.
I had two microdiscectomies in 2006 & ‘07. I did get Naproxen as a go between between Extra Strength Typenol and Ibuprofen so I’m taking minimal Ibuprofen for that reason as I already have stomach issues.
God bless you and give you strength, anon. For what it’s worth, while marijuana is indeed habit forming, if one can have the discipline and respect for what it’s capable of, it brings tremendous healing, both physically and spiritually. You don’t need it to encounter God, of course, but it has certainly helped augment my faith journey. Love and peace to you, brother in Christ.
CBD gummies Delta 8 are what I take. I am nearly off all prescription painkillers from the hospital. I am woman, so I’d be sister in Christ. Thank you
Amen, God bless, sister!
Our Father in Heaven, We are here today in agreement for our friend Callmejuls. She is in need of your help and healing for her spine. She misses the hope of getting to hold her grandbabies close and to lead a good life. Help her Lord in her recovery and to deal with all the instructions given by the doctors. We ask this in the name of Jesus. Amen.
Forgive me if you are a man. Through your writings I always picture you as a woman. Don't know for sure, but God bless you my friend.
I am all woman, decided by God
Thank you. I didn't think I was wrong. Sometimes you can tell simply by what a person writes. I hope I didn't hurt your feelings by asking . Have a blessed day and I pray for your complete healing.
all good, no offense taken. I do not offend easily except by those DemonRats we all fight against who so blatantly defy God with their ‘In your face evil’
Thanks friend.
Prayers for you, fren. Take one day at a time. The past is gone and the future isn't here yet. Each day will be better than the last. God will take care of you.
My prayer s that he uses me to help heal others. Ie; starting Camp Yesu that he placed on my heart
Prayers on the way.
Thank you
stop bending 😠
come up with a catchy mantra which you repeat to yourself a thousand times a day.
stay very straight, and then i will feel great. stay very straight, and then i will feel great. stay very straight, and then i will feel great.
What’s a mantra
Something you repeat every time you need to remember to do something. Like when you walk to the store and repeat the things you need to buy so you don't forget
Mmm, k
A pagan way to pray to yourself
don't be stupid
I’ll try not to, lol
Goes both ways. 3 fingers pointing back at you...
I guess that’s why I am unfamiliar. I belong to Jesus.
