I’ve always been confused about this, but then, so many of their “big plans” were poorly planned, like 9/11. Any theories about why they took the chance with the Internet? Shortsighted? Or just plain stupid?

You gave them a day to day diary, and I'm not talking about social media.
It might just be an army of JIDF reporting any truth about the enemy. I've seen top comments gain dozens of up-votes slowly over an hour and then suddenly BAM! The same number of down-votes suddenly appear instantly. Share any research about the tribe and the down-vote bots will attack.
The mods of any platform would have no way to tell if JIDF bots / shills are reporting or down-voting or not.
As a Christian, I can't imagine what it must be like if the roles were reversed. I'm always happy to discuss the teachings of Jesus and how our most respected Christian scholars interpret those teachings. I love discussing Christian history, even the nasty bits. I've never down-voted research into any pedophile priests or the horrific crimes against children committed by the Vatican. I've never defended our deep state. The enemy are a very different creature.
The Vatican is not a Christian Church. The Vatican is and has always been false teachings. The Catholic church doesn't even teach the actual 10 Commandments. The fact they have to eliminate a Commandment from God to hide their deception is all the evidence I need to steer clear.
I agree the Vatican has always been corrupt. Years ago I research each of the past Popes and most of them seemed monstrous. Only a handful seemed honorable. Ha ha, I remember one Pope who, on his first day as Pope, ordered that the collective riches of their church should be used to feed and care for the hungry. He didn't survive the night.
Can you provide a source about the actual 10 Commandments? I'm more of a Red Letter Christian and I don't focus too much on what Jews claim about themselves in their Torah, but I'm still interested in the truth.

They gave us the internet because because it was the only way they could gain access to every aspect of our lives. The thought of knowing our routines and plans, our location, our banking and money, our relationships and circles, far outweighed any potential awakening.
The creation of the internet was planned by the U.S. military during the 1950's as a tool to be used to fight against totalitarianism. It has been mostly under the control of the U.S. military throughout it's history, during the 1960's - 1990's and even into the early 21st century. .
It is only in recent times that the internet has become infested with globo-homo corporations steering narratives, and censoring content. It wasn't possible back in the old days.
Because if you can label the smaller population of truthers and us awake as "conspiracy theorists", or better yet....Have the FBI LARP as us on the news. They can label us insane. So the asleep now have a "corporal" "bad guy". Like the Orange Man, now its Qanon, and Putin......There always needs to be the bad guy. In my opinion

We're fighting college indoctrination right now in the culture war. The first places that were technically on ARPANET so they could share research and etc for DARPA/ARPA. In parallel, BBSes started to rise to popularity, and while many probably didn't experience that era, I did. My earliest experience outside of dialing in to other states BBSes was when MajorBBSs which primarily were known for online chat would link together for a short time so you could chat with people worldwide. Could dial into Universities at that time to access the Internet in its infant form with the basic TCP suite, IRC, FTP, Usenet. Then you started getting regular ISPs but not many people used those at the time.
Fast forward a bit later and trickledown effect occurs, get Windows with a GUI, then America Online and Compuserv, ISPs start getting added functionality from that and more people using computers. Eventually Internet replaces the AOL/Compuserv.
Using Twitter as a parallel, we used to have 50 million instant messengers, Mirabilis's ICQ (my first one, and think it might've technically been the first), AOL Instant Messenger, Yahoo Messenger, so on. Then Twitter comes along and becomes the cell phone equivalent and takes over the marketplace from those after they did their own cannabilism. "Everyone's on Twitter" until they start banning and causing people to say "fuck this platform" and now we've got Gab, Parler, Truth, etc. Cannibalism will begin again. The cycle always repeats. Same thing with "Cloud", "lets have it all in one place, the cloud!" "fuck the cloud, we need our own copies it cannot be trusted" .
Anyways, that's my ramble, inevitability Mr. Anderson.
You guys need to understand that this 'controlled demolition' we are watching has been planned far in advance, the whole thing is scripted by the true controllers of this realm. The goal was never to subjugate the world in darkness forever, the darkness served a purpose and that purpose is reaching completion.

Perhaps a different take would be helpful in grasping this issue.
The internet was already a new frontier, and by slow graft, .gov entities started to latch on. Enter the woke crowd. In essence, you could postulate the DS thought it had several gatekeepers, like patriot Act and proliferation of IC-agencies, ISP's with power to shut you out, convey your data + social media control + the latest iteration your QR-ID = control of access + energy.
All these fail-safes ...eh...failed.
They were more interesred in using it against everyone. They didnt think the truth would spread and their main ideology is they control the narrative. So no matter what ends up online, they could easily sway people away from the truth with using the MSM and agents onnline to provide "proof" the truth was a lie.
I believe it was because they did not foresee what it would become for mankind.
