Thanks. This actually reminded me of the exact moment in high school when I fully actualized my ability to interpret symbolism.

I remember something breaking in my mind. She interpreted the lyrics one way, and I saw something completely different -- certain she had missed a critical definition. I forget exactly what I thought it meant, but I knew she was taking the whole thing too literally.

Rather simple on the surface, but when one considers their 80s counterparts Duran Duran were frequently VIP guests to Little Saint James and someone like Debby Harry MCs Abramovic's spirit cooking galas.... It puts an even darker context to what exactly were Hall & Oates refusing to be a part of?
