Grandad(a WW2 vet) had been in hospital the last 2 months. He had been asking to see me but being unvaxxed I was denied twice. They moved him to a nursing home but again, unvaxxed, I was not allowed to visit. Last week I colluded with my vaxxed aunt and with a diversion I snuck through the cracks and seen him. (I refuse to use the fake passport because I believe it would add value to it. Kinda like bitcoin.). Anyway, the Lord has shown him mercy and compassion and has taken him home. I’m having a few drinks and listening to his old music and stumbled across this one. This has been going on a long time. How are we the only ones awake to it? I felt the need to share. Thankyou for your time. WWG1WGA

Thankyou fren but it was merciful and timely. May we all receive the same compassion when our bodies fail.

Just to cheer you up, this reminds me of the old joke:

My granddad was a bus driver and died in his sleep - unlike his passengers who died screaming!

I'd use a somewhat stronger word than "shame".

God bless you and comfort you. Glad to hear you were able to spend a few with him to say goodbye. Thanks to him and others in that great generation we able to be here now. It is nice that you can find some connection to him through the music of that generation. Thanks for sharing.

I was forced years ago to listen to that genre of music when I went to work with a colleague that had a small private practice. There was a local radio station at the time that played nothing but big band WW2 era music. I came to actually like it and now I have my own playlists of tunes from that era I enjoy listening to from time to time when I am in the mood - pun intended. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c2aqHGaSxRI There is something hopeful and innocent woven within the music of that era that shows an optimism for the future despite the hardships of what they were living through. Definitely a different mindset that we could use a few lessons from. Take care fren.

Exactly. I am a little sad of course, but I know he is better off. I can’t imagine how his eyes witnessed the world. From world wars to Covid tyranny. What violent history was etched in his mind. The words in that old song is what prompted my to post. I know it’s an old tune. But here we are, still fighting the same foe.

Of course you'll miss him, but 97 is a pretty good run.

Disgusting how they use covid to terrorize loved ones. I've only seen the closest person in my life three times in the last six+ months for very similar reasons. When I do get to see her it's with people (her family) breathing down my neck demanding I wear a mask at all times and socially distance.

How fortunate you were to have him for so long. Nevertheless, it is always sad for the loved ones left behind, even if you know he is in a better place and at peace. I am sorry for your loss. May God comfort you in your time of sorrow. I am so glad you were able to see each other before his death. What the medical community is doing to families by denying them visitation is cruelly and tantamount to blackmail. Evil has many faces and trying coercion of any kind to get people to take the shot is just one of many. I appreciate his selflessness in his service to our country.

So sorry for your loss, my grandfather too, always knew there was a chance it would come to this. He was a wise man, as was yours. So glad you were able to see him one last time.

I hope those were celebratory drinks you were having, to celebrate your Grandad finally receiving his just reward. Lucky for you to have him around so long. Very good that you broke the rules to go see him. People in their last days can hang on for a surprising amount of time to be able to say goodbye to people especially near to them. Sounds like he was waiting to see you.

Aww, God bless him and God bless you for loving your grandpa! I'm glad he went peacefully and is now with the Lord. I'm sorry you had so much trouble seeing him at the end, but I'm glad you did sneak in there that one time. Good for you. How dare you or he be denied that! You seem to be at peace about his passing, and that is a blessing. Thanks for sharing.
