I have never been a Cruise fan. Yes, I saw the 1st Top Gun, good movie, but Cruise was just being Cruise. This movie is the first movie that I really believed him as an ACTOR, his character is far removed from the Cruise you have known in the past. He's no Michael Caine or anything, but he has finally reached his potential. I recommend it, even if you are not a Cruise fan.
I consider that film to perhaps be Kubrick's best even though it's far from my favorite. One of the only films that gets through to normies too, can't tell you how many people I've met that understand the implications it suggests.
And that isn’t even the version Kubrick wanted you to see. He died “conveniently” right before they finished editing the film. Steven Spielberg was brought in to “tighten” it up. It’s a theory that Kubrick was killed and that the over four hour rough cut that he showed to Warner Bros. executives has never seen the light of day and was most likely literally destroyed by Spielberg.
Cruise trying like hell to get laid but the only people hitting on him after the argument with his wife are either 13 yrs old, crazy, or gay....tries a hooker, gets interrupted before undressing by his wife on the phone... then the hooker has AIDS so he was lucky he didn't get laid! :)
Yep, with you there. Plus, let's face it... Kidman was/is a victim.
Speaking of Butterfly Sugar Babies...hopefully Brittany Spears shares her story now that she's seemingly "free?" She seems pissed enough to do it but we'll see?
Eyes wide shut is the only movie in walked out if. The opening scene was enough to turn me off to both Kidmen and Cruise. I will never again watch anything they are in. Besides that He is a complete werdo.
What I love is the opening message to the fans. He was respectful to his audience. and spoke about the film with a bit of humility. for him and other actors it is hard for them to come to the fans and just say this movie is for you.
Michael Caine in Blame it on Rio (with a young Demi Moore) was hilarious (was in my teens when it came out) but then again, his character was banging a teen girl... sooo...

I love Kubrick's dry humor

Need to rewatch it. I wasn't impressed the first time.
Ditto.
That was one I would not watch because, well, Tom Cruise.
Tom Snooze was a'ight in eyes wide shut, but then again so was MK Butterfly product Nicole Kidman

The part as the Irishman was his best role. With Kidman.
I don't think Kidman was in the Monarch program
Her father was a convicted pedophile.

Consider watching Edge of Tomorrow. His character changes a great deal over the course if the film and his acting sells it.
For pure farce, you can't beat his role in Tropic Thunder.
Man I completely agree with you, both of those are really fun movies in my mind
Michael Caine. :D
