People have no idea how deviant this scheme is. If we are supposed to be capitalist (I know we aren’t really capitalist, and drift further every day) wtf kind of taxation scheme confiscates large swaths your capital before you even see it? Such malignant deviancy leads to:
govt knowing every asset you own
govt knowing every place you spend money
govt being able to cripple you with tax audits carrying possible prison time
govt being able to tax you for your neighbor’s benefit
govt being able to grow out of control
being forced into the arms of central bankers, thus paying interest to borrow what you could not save from confiscation by govt.
This is more perverse than we admit. It should be discussed like this more broadly and on the regular. It’s a huge issue going above and beyond wanting to keep the fruits of your own labor.

Tariffs make the price of imported goods go up. In the past, most imports were bought by rich people, so they were forced to pay up. Tariffs today would give local manufacturing a big incentive, because average people would really want to buy American.
Tariffs are paid by foreign countries. It's basically a tax they pay for the privilege of doing business with us. Americans were never meant to pay income tax (unconstitutional)
If it can really work that way, without raising the cost of goods. I feel like corps will still be jerks about it, since they benefit from workers paying taxes. We need small business grants that are paid for from tariffs to stimulate local economies and get blackrock to fuck off so we can bring more agriculture to our towns and stop building what these billionaire real estate asshats want. Considering who owns the FRB which the IRS collects their unearned lucre, I am of the opinion that when the Corporation of the UNITED STATES is declared bankrupt that these United States of America (read "WE THE PEOPLE") tell the banksters to fuck off and if they want what they believe is owed them to come and take it.
