The hammer and sickle and red star design from the flag of the Soviet Union (1955–1991) was a symbol meant to represent proletarian solidarity – a union between agricultural and industrial workers. But, the schools in Russia teach their children about these men and the absolute grief and death they caused to millions. It’s a reminder of their past.
