Has anyone had these issues? I'm on day 12 after getting covid. Everything is gone except sinus pain, congestion and headaches.
I've been using 1% povidone-iodine nasal spray. Vit D, C, Zinc, Quercetin, Nigella sativa, Melatonin, turmeric, NAC

Use a nebulizer to get the iodine up into the sinuses. Clears sinus issues like nothing else.

Using a nebulizer gets it much deeper than a spray does.
Doesn't that bring it into the lungs too?
If you breathe it deeply enough.
Talk to your doc. You need a short course of Prednisone.
Omicron messed up my sinuses for three weeks until I got the roids...got better within three days of the roids
Ok thanks. I started out with some steroid when i had a bad sore throat which fixed it up. But it was just one dose they gave me at the clinic.
Should I just tell the doc "i need prednisone"
Usually they are dumb and don't what to do about anything
Mention the ER gave you a dose for inflammation and you felt better. Tell your doc a "doctor friend" also thought you could use a short dose.
Prednisone is more powerful than solumedrol and they should prescribe it as a Wean....smaller doses every day for a week or ten days
And yes. I am a doctor
Thanks doc! Good advice on getting them to prescribe it.
Primary docs may not feel comfortable giving Prednisone. An ENT doc would. You may need a referral
Referral to an ENT? I thought you just goto the emergency room?
edit :ENT is ear nose throat. FORGOT
Depending on insurance you may be able to go straight to ENT w/o any referral.
Ah sorry i was mistaking ENT with emergency room ,

oh, forgot to say i am taking 1200 mg of NAC each day
sinus flush https://www.neilmed.com/ger/
Have it
I also was doing saline nasal flushes for a week but it wasn't clearing it up. Ended up being a sinus infection. See my post above.
I'm surprised it didn't help you. Hope you find an answer.
It took the hubby and I at least 3 weeks to "feel better". Over 2 months for my sense of taste and smell to return. We had the OG one Christmas 2020
I’m almost at 2 weeks. Feeling pretty weak just walking around the block.
I'm not gonna lie to you it will take quite awhile to recover. Just keep takingbyour vitamins. Hang in there
Thanks 🙏
I experienced the same exact thing. I was on day 13/14. Every day it was SSDD. Figured it had turned into a sinus infection at this point. Went through online clinic Virtuwell.com which I've used many times. They came to the conclusion that's what it was. They prescribed me antibiotics and the next day I was already 90% better. It's only $59 and no charge if they can't diagnose you. Some insurances cover it and they will run it through your insurance if you want them to. Usually only takes an hour or 2 before they get back to you. They will send the prescription to your preferred pharmacy. They also do a free follow up if you don't improve.
How did they determine it was a bacterial infection ? I have an order for amoxacillin that I never picked up
You answer a bunch of questions relating to your symptoms and you can also add any additional comments. The questions are pretty specific and no different from what a doctor would ask you if you were in the clinic. Symptoms such as green and or yellow drainage, facial pain/pressure, headache, congestions etc. are just a few examples of questions you answer.
Go get the amoxicillin, it will kick within 24 hours typically.
I got it yesterday. Might try it this continues.
It can cause complications the longer you wait. Not sure why you would hesitate since you have the medicine.
I'm just concerned it's not bacterial infection and the overuse of antibiotics causes issues. Like it screws up your gut biome.
I'll take it starting today.
I understand your concern. You can take probiotics if you want. I've never had issues and have taken antibiotics many times throughout my lifetime. I do try to take mine with a meal or snack so im not taking them on an empty stomach. Keep us up to date on how you are doing. Take care.
Do you order probiotics in pill form?
I am going to start making fermented oatmeal.
Thanks fren, I will let you know how it goes.
Are you also doing Ivermectin (body weight dosage) every day until the thing clears? It can't hurt and may be the clincher you need.
Note: You are doing the nasal spray, but why not also do a general daily sinus rinse to flush out what's inside the sinus cavity and the back of the throat?
I use what I have at home which is a gravy boat, distilled water and Himalayan salt. I warm the salty water for 10 seconds in the microwave and lean over the kitchen sink and place the spout of the gravy boat up to one nostril and slowly sniff it in and then spit out the salty water that rolls down my throat. Do each side until you have to blow your nose. Blow thoroughly and then repeat. Keep going until nothing but water blows out.
Follow this with Q-tips to swab down the interior until clean and dry. Then, use your nasal spray. I guarantee it will improve things!
Also, you are taking the right vitamins for sure, but are you taking enough each day? Why not ramp the dosage up?
Consider this dosage every day until it clears. Can be split into 2 doses.
D3 - 10,000 IU
C - 10,000 mg
Zinc - 100 mg
Quercetin - 1600 mg
NAC - 1200 mg
Turmeric - 2400 mg
Melatonin - 12 mg (at night)
Good luck!
Thank you. Yeah I haven't been washing out the sinuses first with the salty water first. I will start doing that.
Get some peppermint essential oil and diffuse it. It helps
Yes I got it back in Jan/Feb 2022 and have had non-stop sinus inner ear infection and can no longer hear from one ear. Feels like swimmers ear but it's not. Can't fly anywhere. Might have to get tubes put in my ear.
The tubes can be fantastic for draining the ears if plugged or inflamed from an infection. If you do have them inserted, be sure and use the clear silicone ear plugs when showering or swimming. Once the ears are allowed to drain, you can use prescription eye drops to flush out the inner ear (under a doctor's advice) from the outside to clean out any residue. Worked great for my son. We kept them in for four years! Never had a problem with his ears after that. (Previously the infections were chronic).

Thank you for all that great information. I have not done the ivermectin (yet) but am taking all of those supplements you listed except for melatonin. I've also increased my aerobics by doing the stairclimber 3 - 4 times a week for twice as long to increase blood flow and oxygen to those capillaries that serve the inner ear. I'm supposed to fly to California for Christmas so I hope to get the tube put in soon but will try the ivermectin while I wait. Thanks again for your suggestions.
You bet. Good luck!
Docs prob don't know what to do I'm guessing?
I am on day 13. Dont have sinus pain or headaches. A tiny bit of congestion but nothing else.. I used zinc lozenges for the first 4 days and that was about it. I have not used anything at all since. I dont believe I have covid as I dont believe covid even exists but thats what they told me I have. I am absolutely fine with not using anything because I have always believed the more you use the longer you stretch the sickness out.
A little-bitty aspirin will help reduce the inflammation and headache. Ibuprofen can help as well, but aspirin has the blood thinning capacity to prevent blood clots.
my doc recommends in the cocktail, of all things, Pepcid ac taken 2x a day and Claritin, the every 12 hr dose, 2x a day, and Magnesium. The Pepcid and Claritin together make an awesome histamine blocker, which, in turn, will reduce inflammation up there. You are already taking the Quercetin and Melatonin, which she would also recommend. A good saline flush up the old nose 2x a day, it comes in cans, so you would sit upright, squirt and blast that stuff till it drips into your throat, spit it out, as you dont need to swallow all that saline.
Ooh wouldn't like to put iodine up my tender nasal passages!!! Salt water is recommended or steam with towel over head....massage according to online instructions to relieve pain and congestion from your cold..no such thing as COVID. Nasal spray with 1% povidone-iodine: 2-3 times a day. Do not use for more than 5 days in pregnancy. If 1% product is not available, dilute the more widely available 10% solution (see box) and apply 4-5 drops to each nostril every 4 hours.
No thanks...will stick to sterile salt water spray...really works though I do drink iodine
Just sayin. Studies show it is effective:

Stop taking anything and everything ‘for it’. You probably won’t do this, because you ‘know’ it’s wrong, in spite of you already taking things with no effect.
