I hadn't used pay pal for a couple of years only because I couldn't figure out how to cancel my account. It was super easy this time. But I hate GoFundMe much more. Have any good ideas?
GiveSendGo is the best alternative I'm aware of. Had a hell of a time trying to remind myself of its name via Google search (I'm on a stupid phone at the moment) if that's at all encouraging :-P

I tried to delete mine yesterday, but received a pop-up message that I was required to call to delete my account. Been a customer for almost 22 years. When I called today, one of the questions in their phone tree was asking if I was calling to cancel my account. I selected yes and was on hold for 15 minutes. I hung up and called back and said “no” this time. Got to a human much quicker and told him to delete my account and he didn’t even try to talk me out of it. I think they’ve been a little busy this week deleting accounts. My boyfriend was able to delete his online. Not sure why they forced me to call but glad its gone.
THIS. I switched from Gmail and it was one of the most time-consuming and tedious things I've ever done. It took over two years and I'm still not confident enough to delete it. I wouldn't expect any but the most dedicated to suffer the switch. BUT WE NEED TO. (And YouTube still has a huge stranglehold on the video market. I don't think we have a viable alternative yet.)
Who did you switch to? It seems like there are so many 'better' options at the time, but they turn out to be no better than what we switched over from after a while (e.g. duckduckgo, Brave, Telegram, etc)
As soon as my internet company confirms they've switched my billing off of paypal, I can close my account. I'm setting up an ecommerce platform, so I need to also figure out all merchant alternatives.
I wonder how long it will be before Congress decides to fund PayPal with our tax dollars? They'll probably justify it in the name of "climate change" or some such madness. It will probably happen right around the time the 6 banks are deemed too big to fail and bailed out on our dime.
Gillette's disastrous Super Bowl "That's not cool bro!" ad campaign cost them billions. Two years later they went back to classic male role models with "King Gillette". Same for Netflix, they've purged much of their SJW hangover due to huge subscriber loss. Since Obama, when .gov cannot punish you they outsource to the megacorps and the only way to stop it is to financially bloody them, relentlessly. It's the only thing that forces them to change course. The side benefit is that any crypto-SJW's that escaped firing absolutely hate working on products/projects that run counter to their ideologies.

I've never used them but I've heard horror stories about how they kept $$ from so many peoples' accounts for causes that they 'disapproved' of 😡

I have a Proton Mail account but don't use it.
I switched to proton. I'm not arguing its some bastion of free speech, I just ended up there.
I think they key is getting away from an "all-in-one" provider like google or apple. They don't need an angle on every aspect of my life.

Also check if you have a Pay pal account, they started automatically making you an account even if you used the guest checkout
