Thinking about this a bit more, they're most likely making a digital actor which could be used for all kinds of things, including fake "news". It's the cutting edge stuff of hollywood at this point.

Also, deepfakes don't need 3d scanning, but you can create a "digital actor" (videogame character) which you can use to get all kinds of perspectives from to help generate the deepfake that can be applied on video. Very different technologies, but visual-adjacent.

They may not care about the context. What matters is that Putin attacked, and Ukraine's the victim. Justice in this simple scenario is Putin being forced to give back the land and pay reparations.
To these people none of that history matters. Most can't believe it when I tell them that the US overthrew Ukraine's gov't in 2014 and that we installed Poroshchenko as a puppet because he'd help expand the EU's control over Europe. They don't believe it when I tell them the Ukrainian military has been killing these separatists for 8 years, even though that's clear and undisputed history. They don't care that NATO has nuclear-capable ballistic missiles within 15 minutes of Moscow and that this makes Russia more than a little unhappy. They don't care that Zelensky has let his SBU basically act like the SS did to the Jews to the ethnic Russians in Ukraine: harassment, beatings, extrajudicial kidnappings, torture, murder - all documented. In any other context, we'd call this ethnic cleansing and be screaming about 'muh human rights.'
And God help me if I ever try to explain the biolabs thing. Even with direct links to source material, they won't believe it.
My position is simple: if there are no good guys, the best solution is the quickest end to the war we can manage. Kidnap both of these guys, lock them in a room, sit them at a table and tell them no bathroom breaks or snacks until they come up with a peace deal.
