I'm curious why it would matter? Serious question.
Which part? The virgin birth part?
If so, it's because every sect of Christianity affirms that Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit.
This is because it is necessary for the Messiah to be without sin. Original Sin comes into play, so he can't have a traditional birth with man an woman, at least according to Mosaic law.
Furthermore, in order to fulfill the prophecies, he had to be born of a virgin.
14 Therefore the Lord [a]himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and she shall call his name [b]Immanuel. - Isaiah 7:14
As it concerns whether or not Joseph had sex with her while Jesus was in the womb, it only concerns me as far as the fact I'm in a conversation with someone who is convinced with every fiber of their being that "fear not to take Mary thy wife:" means Joseph banged her when pregnant -- his words, not mine.
"in order to fulfill the prophecies, he had to be born of a virgin."
He seems to have fulfilled all the other ones without question. Are you really withholding faith based on the potential that maybe this one prophecy was fudged? Have you gone back to the Mosaic prophecy to fully translate that one as well? An important undercurrent throughout Jesus's teachings is that the Spirit of God and God's law always is more important than the written letter transcribed, interpreted and understood by man. This might be a case of investing your ego in the debate more than satisfying the needs of your heart. Debating and questioning one's beliefs is good practice, but there is a point in which you must admit that "for those who believe, no proof is necessary; for those that do not believe, no proof is sufficient." Agreeing to disagree is always an option.
Not every point can be proven, and even when Jesus was physically present, He allowed people to doubt Him and deny God, although He warned against it. If proof of God and Jesus's divinity were on display in a museum, our faith would be moot. In my experience, God gives us leeway, and we can always choose to doubt. It doesn't mean we always should.
It is easy to find voices on every side, for every verse in the bible. But the answer for a troubled heart cannot be found by poll, argument, or even a lifetime of Greek, Latin and Aramaic studies, as the conflicting translations demonstrate. If this question truly troubles you, I advise praying on it.
I mean I always just assumed they had sex later but Joseph didn't want the shame of appearing cucked or immoral when his wife showed up pregnant before the mariage
Mary was a virgin when she conceived, Joseph did not have sex with her
Matthew 1:18 King James Version
18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.
19 Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a public example, was minded to put her away privily.
20 But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.
21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins.
22 Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,
23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
^^^^This is the correct response to the question.^^^^ The next step for those hearing these scriptures are to have faith that God is real and believe the scriptures. Then confess that Jesus is Lord, repent of your sins and be baptized, and you too will have the gift of the Holy Spirit and eternal life. Don’t think you have to know everything before you obey. God loves you and accepts you the way you are now, and as you now turn from sinful behavior, you will learn a more righteous way to live.
You have the correct take.
Mystery solved…
"perpetual virginity of Mary"? She had children by Joseph after Jesus was born.
That's debatable. There was no word for cousin at the time in the Greek language.

"Brother" and "Sister" could have been as open ended as anyone from his home village, according to some interpretations.
But Matthew 1:25 with "But he knew her not, till she had brought forth her first born son," does open the door that they were permitted to have relations, but not that they necessarily did.
I don't care either way, personally, so long as it's not in question that Joseph didn't touch her at all during pregnancy. If he did, I see no logical way to say Jesus was born of a virgin then.
James was a son of Mary and Joseph and therefore a half-brother to Jesus and brother to Joseph, Simon, Judas, and their sisters (Matthew 13:55).
Other translations use brethren.

In full context, they weren't calling into question his heritage, they knew it quite well, but rather they were calling into question his claims of being the Messiah. He did not fit the prophecy, because they were aware he was not "Of the House of David" in terms of being related to the royal family as they were expecting from the Messiah.
They were more upset that he was just some scrub carpenter's son and not a son of a king. They further were upset that a carpenter's son would have such deep understanding of scripture when they said "Whence cometh this wisdom and great works unto this man?"
They wanted to know who taught him all he knew, and refused to believe a nobody would dare speak with such authority.
I'm not saying you're wrong in him having siblings of Mary, but in context they used his perceived siblings to reject him as the Messiah. He didn't fit their preconceived notions.
Check other translations.
NASB, ESV, etc. indicate “do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife.”
Joseph did not have sex while Mary was pregnant with Jesus. But that doesn't mean that Joseph didn't marry Mary which is what happened before Jesus was born.
The only honest answer anyone here can give is we don't know.
Ask GOD. Maybe He will clear your mind. Remember, though, He is Allknowing and the Final Judge. He knows you through and through, including your honest motivations (and your not so honest motives).
Not of this world = Alien. It’s just a faith question on whether or not you believe Jesus is of this world or not. Also if a human like Mary could conceive and birth him then his Alien dad obviously is able to procreate with humans. Jesus is most likely the son of advanced humans.
She didn't have sex with God you crazy person lol 😆 😂
I didn’t say she had sex you moron. There’s a way to impregnate women without intercourse. Artificial insemination has been around for a while. Apparently going back to the time of Jesus. God you’re stupid. Lol
You just cant accept God, and the holy spirit so instead to have to make up as many ways around it as you can.
Mary gave birth to a human. That’s why he was able to be killed on the cross. You think you know what I believe. You really are a moron. You make real Christians look dumb by association. Maybe that’s your angle. Act like a moron to drive people away from Christianity. It was Jesus’ actions that made him godly. His body was definitely mortal. Every image of Jesus looks like a man. Are you a fundamentalists too? Is the earth 6000 years old? Lol
Jesus was 100% human and 100% God. His actions are not what makes him godly, him being consubstantial with the Father is what makes him God. He isnt godly is IS God. He is the word made flesh.
