I saw that someone a week ago or so had posted their 1949 edition. I decided I wanted a reference book from before the hard propaganda of modern times. 35 bucks after shipping and tax. I'm looking forward to getting it and doing some research. This will also probably jump-start a vintage book collecting addiction

I have encyclopedia and dictionary's so old that they don't even include Airplanes.
And we had the same encyclopedia set from the 50's, on the same bookshelf in house I grew up in until we sold parents house around 2014, A five of us kids used it in school. When I was a kid I use to love going from topic to topic reading about stuff.
This makes me smile. As a rare conservative library director, I value all old books, pre 1950-1960. Good stuff in a lot of them.
My mom has an American College dictionary from that era. It is interesting that using that dictionary, I am a liberal republican, while in today's words a radical-anarcho-capitalist-libertarian.
I like older dictionaries. The vocabulary is less compromised.
Link?
it was the only one available from the source i bought from. look for it on ebay and half-price books. I used to live in Minneapolis and some of the old book stores around there definitely had stuff like that. Check in your area for used and vintage book stores as well. Lots of knowledge and non-woke entertainment in those old pages
on ebay currently there's a 1947 complete reference and a 1951 complete reference for under 40 each
American Dictionary of The English Language, Noah Webster 1828 is the last dictionary worth using.
Do you have one? Man this would be a great copy to have!
I do. The only dictionary I keep in the house and allow my kids to use. Even if they Google or smoogle or whatever online to find the online definition I tell them to compare it to this. If the word isn’t in the 1828 I try to have them find a synonym that is. English used to be such a beautiful language. Edit: FYI- It was easy to find and purchase online.
Yard sales are also a good source....
I grew up learning out of one of those old Websters. Complete with alternate languages in the back and maps of the world.
1911 or older. The truth was Swiss cheesed real good by 47.
That may be so, only thing is that there won't be any mention of the world wars.
Here's another option:

Noice one. I actually am seeking for one that is before 1940s, I figured there’s be less propaganda around that time also.
