No, they all must be present to vote. I feel like three excused absences, then removed from office for dereliction of duty. After that hold a special election for their replacement. They should be treated worse than recruits in boot camp. Politicians are the only people that should be presumed thieves until proven otherwise. Put that shoe on the other foot and see how they like it.
That is one thing that MTG put a light on early, the fact that only a handful of people were showing up to vote and she kept stalling them by calling for a full vote so that everyone had to come in to the chamber to vote and it pissed them all off that they actually had to come into work and work. It should NEVER be a like that. If you are elected to be there, you should be fined big if you do not show up to vote (unless you have a damn good reason like, you are in the hospital or family funeral). As well, she stated that, they did not want their Names attached to show how they voted, and made it so they started to do so again so their Constituents can see if their "elected" leaders were voting in ways that went along with what their constituents wanted. Transparency, and they all hate it.
And there should be open discussion and analysis of the bill so that the average American understands exactly what it means to pass it into the law -- the positive and the negative.
I get a similar reaction when I propose abolishing income tax and making up the difference by increasing the corporate tax brackets by 70%. The usual response is "then the corporations won't have incentive to grow".
And I'm like, "Oh... The poor corporations..."
Individuals should be mostly uncapped, but corporations don't need to be taking billions in revenue each year especially since they do the bare minimum to help their employees.
I'm very wary of making changes to the Constitution, but I do believe this is a change that could be safely made without opening a window for the nefarious to use it as a weapon.
I would love to see an amendment that requires every bill to be a single issue with a mandatory time period of evaluation by both Congress and the citizenry before a vote can be made. Not only would it prevent hidden legislation injected into large bills, it would dramatically slow down the pace at which congress could work.
Counter offer: Congress can still pass single issue bills as is, but all legislation signed by the President MUST undergo judicial review in the supreme court and then it goes into a trial phase where it can be voted down by We The People in the next election cycle.
I feel like it should also go through the supreme court to determine if anything in it violates the Constitution before it gets to the president's desk.
Just fix the wording on the commerce clause. Practically all bills are unconstitutional, except for the commerce clause. Practically all bills passed have a reference to the commerce clause., Since the new deal, the commerce clause has been greatly abused to give Congress the ability to pass just about anything
That is pure democracy and is total crap. There is a reason that the USA is a Republic and not a pure democracy. The tyranny of the 51 over the 49 is the most brutal imaginable.
We certainly don't need everyone to vote. I'd vote for idea, then hastily read up on civics to make sure I can pass. The truth is many people lack the interest in voting if it requires them to think or learn.
And every bill should be read aloud for ALL to hear BEFORE any vote is cast.
And ONLY those members of Congress who are present during the entire reading of the bill AND the entire debate can cast a vote.

Citizens should be responsible for voting on issues, representatives should make sure our voices are respected.
And there should be open discussion and analysis of the bill so that the average American understands exactly what it means to pass it into the law -- the positive and the negative.
Yup, and politicians get one vote same as citizens..
OMG then NOTHING will pass.
Good
Yup!

Says who?

Best paragraph that sums up a great idea in a long while...

What you’re describing is a direct democracy - we are, proudly, a Republic.
100% agree, GC.
There is no mention of political parties in the Constitution.
I feel like it should also go through the supreme court to determine if anything in it violates the Constitution before it gets to the president's desk.

Yup.
if the wef has their way there wont be any of u.s. left to worry about a constitution..bill of rights nor a congress
That is pure democracy and is total crap. There is a reason that the USA is a Republic and not a pure democracy. The tyranny of the 51 over the 49 is the most brutal imaginable.
Fuck off with this stupid shit.
Tell us how you feel! LOLZ Feelings oh oh Feelings... Its been a year, make some posts... Just looking to troll helps no one except you.
I'm still of the belief that a voter license should be required to vote. Proof of taking and passing a civics test.
We certainly don't need everyone to vote. I'd vote for idea, then hastily read up on civics to make sure I can pass. The truth is many people lack the interest in voting if it requires them to think or learn.
It's adorable that you think "should" and "will" mean the same thing.
I serve only to amuse...
Direct democracy using blockchain. Is the only way!
What exactly are you seeing that makes this clear to you?
Look around opinions should and will vary...
