Unfortunately though it DOES take something awful like this to bring awareness and action in our vicarious, mind-numbed world today. I hold out hope for a good prognosis for Demar Hamlin and you bet your ass they will use whatever resources available to get him to recover if it's possible.
Sadly if it's not they will try just as hard to slip his death under the rug, presumably by drawing it out and preventing the plug from being pulled even if that is the only humane option remaining to him. I had a friend when I was young survive a car crash but end up clinically brain dead in the hospital. We visited him for weeks and prayed over him but after a few early days of slight positive signals there was nothing and it became hopeless. His parents were devout Catholics and they nonetheless made the call to take him off life support. Languishing in that state is awful and I sincerely hope that fate does not befall Demar if he is beyond recovery. I hope they don't slow walk his journey to be with GOD because of fucking politics and I just am disgusted thinking about it because I know they would if it helped them to save face at all.
