That takes courage, fortitude and a sense responsibility for starters. anything else?
a legitimate education
A lot of skill, determination, strength of mind and body, and a willingness to sacrifice for your family and communities.
Lets put the Libs up there and see how they fare. Theyd call it a day before the first snowflake fell and have it back on in the spring when its "nice enough to work outside"
Skill.
When I was in school they showed a video of some of the really high-voltage ones, where they would need to helicopter into place, and part of the process was to get the helicopter to the same voltage potential as the line. So these things have about 5-10 ft of arc on the approach... a level of fortitude beyond what I'd be willing to, even with the danger pay.
How well are they paid?
One of the great songs of all time. Instantly came to mind when I saw this post. Even tho a love song, it's lyrics tell an amazing story of much more than the gal he's in love with. Thanks to all those "Wichita Linemen" out there keeping this country living.

Oops sorry - I posted also. I like your taste in music :-)
The intro figure bass line is played by Carol Kaye, one of the true legends of music recording. For over fifty years, she played the bass and guitar on probably tens of thousands of recordings, thousands of them becoming hits, as a member of the “first call” studio musicians; so called because the were the first called by producers. They became known as “the wrecking crew” although Ms. Kaye disliked that sobriquet. All this, by the way, while maintaining a household and raising her children. She was and still is an astonishing talent and an amazing woman.
We think alike fren!

Based. Dangerous & thankless work
I would like to remind everyone there are linemen who go underground and underwater
One of the most dangerous jobs ever
Very dangerous work. Very brave men.
Yes, well said. They work in brutal and dangerous conditions. The job is not for the weak.
Second that.
Honestly just listened to Glen Campbell this morning and this song popped up. Absolutely one of my all time favorites !!

Gosh, I get it - they did a great job in their interpretation. But the beauty of Wichita was in Glen’s solo, lonesome vocals.
He was one of the great talents of all time. Played Mosrite guitars, too (among many others).
Did you know Electrical linemen have something like a 75% chance of developing leukemia during their careers or after? My Teacher was the one explaining this. He told us to think carefully if we entered that field. It pays well but has a cost to your health. I always remember this.
I unfortunately know a couple people who have died and one without a leg now who did this. One of the most dangerous jobs out there.
Many professional football players are convicted felons....part of the modern day "bread & circuses"....
I love how we are supposed to put people on a pedestal because of the choice of employment they chose. People here may hate me for saying this, but its the job they chose and they most likely chose it for the money or benefits, not because they have a good heart.
I'm supposed to care that you chose to get a job in the military and fight wars for globalists. I'm supposed to care you are a cop or a nurse, no because you are doing it for the pay and benefits.
I don't care about what you do for money anymore than you should me.
Now we should CARE about those that VOLUNTEER
Bet you’d care if your waiting on a nurse to bring you your next dose of Dilaudid just after your anesthesia wears off after having surgery!

What a job!
Was thinking the same thing.. any empowered women out there interested in evening up the "gender pay gap"?
Very rare to see female lineman. Bc unlike fireman and police they cannot cut the corners on physical requirements. Must be able to do poletop rescue with 200 pound dummy under 3 min.
