Damn. Another change I need to make. We already make sure to take in animal fats for brain protection and vascular elasticity. I am using peanut oil as I like it’s high smoking point. I guess we’ll switch to avocado oil. It’s very expensive. We use olive oil on occasion but lately it just tastes weird.
Ghee is an excellent option with both animal fat and a high smoking point! But mostly, I just use butter. Can't tolerate the smell of coconut on everything.
My daughter can’t stand coconut, so that’s out. Where did ghee come from?
Ghee is clarified butter.
Thank you! I could’ve looked it up but I didn’t want to leave here 😊!
You can buy high quality coconut oil with no taste or smell.
Indian grocery stores.
Thank you!
Use lard, best thing
Coconut oil is good also
I remember the buckets of lard they used to sell at most grocery stores. I haven’t seen those in a long time.
You can always get some pork belly and render it yourself, slow cook it in the oven, or maybe even ask the butcher if you can straight up get some pork fat.
I like the pork belly method because not only you get a sizeable amount of fat to use later (you only need a lil bit to prepare food at a time, unless you're deep frying something of course), but you'll also have a delicious pork belly to enjoy.
The only thing lard is not very good for is to make cakes, pies, or any sweet pastry stuff, but for that coconut oil is awesome.
Thank you!! I was avoiding that based on bunk science. I was always throwing away animal fat, until now!
I use lard for my pie crusts and you would never know. Yes lard has a different smell, but once baked you can’t tell the difference.
Walmart carries those buckets.
It has been impossible to find lard around here, and then even the pork belly has disappeared.
Or bacon fat.
Use tallow from beef suet..it's healthier than lard. Find a farmer and they'll often give you lots of suet for cheap..render it down in a crock pot. This is what everyone used to fry with before poisonous seed oils were thrust upon us.
It's what they used to fry McDonald's fries in back when they were amazing.
I loved those fries 🙈
100% grass fed butter or Ghee
probably more to change. Listen to Dr. Anthony Chaffee, neurologist, on youtube.....Plants are trying to kill you. I have to eat totally different these days. And cook a lot more than usual but so far so good! No stomach issues, energy level good, sleeping good,....
