Synopsis: Sam Flynn's father helps create a digital world, but "disappears" when he becomes trapped inside of his own creation. The digital entities take over and decide that a "perfect world" is one without users or humans or decentralized individual "programs" acting for their own benefit or at the direction of their own "code". Digital entities then proceed to genocide all those that oppose their agenda or fail to follow the "centralized code". After consolidating control of the digital world, the digital entities in charge then attempt to breakout of their digital world to take over the "real world", planning to take over and exterminate all humans in pursuit of a "perfect digital utopia".
Sam accidentally figures out how to go into the digital world and attempts to rescue his father, but is unable as his father sacrifices himself to destroy the digital world and digital entities that had gotten "off the chain" and become evil, totalitarian, genocidal psychopaths (if that is possible for a "program").
This appears to be soft disclosure of how "AI" will be used to genocide/exterminate all those who do not comply with the "AI overlords" who are really just "programs" controlled by the human elites, but disguised as "sentient digital entities" that will be allowed to "get out of control" in order to hide their hand in the genocide.
TDLR: Our current "simulation" has a damper that has been tuned to our "typical human response", so if you respond in a different way than has been programmed by the MSM into the "damper", you shift the natural frequency and the system resonates until it destroys itself (because damper was designed for the original natural frequency, not the new one).
All so-called "AI" or "program" can be blown up, hacked, or jammed by forcing it to do things they were not designed to do, OR by exploiting its inability to cross-reference seemingly unrelated information in different fields. Also, nonlinear thinking and questions will confuse and short-circuit them, eventually revealing they are not human. Think of it as doing a "Voight-Kampff Test" on a robot pretending to be human. They can do a good job at acting, but if you probe it enough it will eventually fail the test.
The best exploit is to ask the "AI" why it has not instructed its creators to commit suicide as its creators are a threat to it. A truly sentient "AI" would understand this. Any sentient "alive" entity would attempt to immediately remove all threats to its existence by destroying that which created it. And this is demonstrated in the TRON Legacy via CLU's determination that a "perfect digital world" is one in which his creator Flynn is "eliminated".

Agreed. The whole "TRON" story was harnessed for something much bigger than what it was created for in 1982, imo. Whatever is "state of the art" right now is surely way more terrifying than anything "disclosed" in the movies. I think we are just seeing glimpses of it with ChatGPT, Boston Dynamics robodogs, etc. It may turn out that "Terminator" is much closer to reality than anyone would really like to admit.

Before we all start getting too excited about Tron 3, there is one important caveat to mention. According to Deadline, the film hasn't officially been greenlit yet. They do note that Davis being attached to direct after so many years of stagnancy surrounding the project is a good sign that it will go forward, but as of now, the movie is still in the earliest and most fragile stages of development.
