So......... they are replacing the replacements they made because the old ones needed replacing too often. How's my reading comprehension?
Yes, it appears they switched to something alleged to be better and longer lasting, but alas it was a false promise.
Luckily, they got a good warranty and will have them replaced for free, one hopes. But then, will the new ones do the same thing?
I like "led lights been in place for five years with few issues."
Like, uhhh, what about THIS issue requiring them all to be re-replaced?
And how white LEDs flake off to become purple?!? What a joke.
5/5 !
Very good
My God that font though.......
What? Their claim is they used to be white but the white flaked off and they're blue underneath? That makes no sense in multiple ways. 1, white on the inside, blue plastic cover makes sense, vice versa does not. 2, that's not how LED's get their color, their color is determined by the material of the resistor.
That’s B.S., as a 48 state truck driver I can attest that these blue lights in almost every case are located on roads entering/exiting towns on major roads. They are also located many times in the parking lots large buildings, like large enough to be used as an intake processing center for example.
The sodium bulbs last 5-8 years so the leds are doing what they do best, filling the landfill
Blue LEDs are painted with white phosphorus to give the warmer light temperatures. Standard warranty of LED is 5 years but that is not going to cover labor to change them out.
The led's are actually BLUE and the phosphorus is yellow (blue passing through yellow results in white) the phosphorus is burning away...resulting in some phosphorus being left which emits a purple color light output and eventually will be blue light once the phos is all burned off.
Why only at intersections? In my closest city I drive through everyday the blue purple lights are in all the corners of major intersections. All other lights leading up the intersection are normal…weird
I noticed those last night when I was in Ankeny! Thought it was weird because the week before the same streetlight was white....
They gave a totally different reason in our part of the PanHane in Florida.
"The Florida Department of Transportation says this is due to a manufacturing defect.
Their spokesperson, Ian Satter, says they’re using new LED lights.
Some of these light bulbs have defective filters which causes the purple hue.
Satter says they don’t have an exact count on how many purple lights are shining across the state, but the number is estimated to be in the hundreds.' https://weartv.com/news/local/manufacturing-defect-changing-street-lights-purple-in-northwest-florida
That sounds like the same problem to me. The coating that's flaking off is the filter.
They were purple night one of being installed. That is not flaking. Point is this is on purpose, or everyone buys from the same shitty manufacturer.
Oh I see. Yeah that's extra shitty!
Yeah, we have a plaque of purple lights popping up across the nation, have been for a few years now. They are annoying on the eyes, IMO and need to not be a thing at all.
Now that's interesting
I'm your neighbor.
Because they source them from Chi-nah.
