This is the biggest piece of horse shit (pun) article I've seen in a while. They come in all sizes. If hair is so big that it requires a significantly larger size helmet the functionality of the helmet is compromised anyway. Change hair style. Decide between passion for riding and passion for big hair.
Or quit with the disciplines that "require" helmet use. I've been on a lot of horses, a lot of rank horses, bucking horses, a helmet has never touched my head. Course I may have lost some brain function from some of the wrecks but whatever. kek
Yeah me too, even worked on a ranch @ one point. I was more concerned about a horse rolling on me while gathering cattle in rough terrain or getting bucked off and screwing my back up.
I've been in some pretty spectacular wrecks and messed up but the biggest fear was always going over backward and horn to chest or not kicking out fast enough on a trip and roll. I'm sure we could swap stories for a while. o7
I'm with you. I've been riding most of my life (first time I was 3 and rode behind my grandpa on his horse). The only time I've worn a helmet was for a clinic that required it. I've been concussed twice, but I can't tell any lasting damage.
I'll also note that Christopher Reeves' helmet did him no good whatsoever...his neck was broken.
The only time a helmet would've ever helped me was when I was dash boarded into a metal pipe fence and hit head first. I'm not against helmets, I am just not going to ever wear one myself.
So very. This is where logic and critical thought escape them. Instead, they CHOOSE to be a victim. Of whatever. Three choices here...#1) Ride without a helmet (not recommended) #2) Stop riding if you choose to have huge hair #3) Cut your fkng hair. JUST STOP WINING AND MAKE SOME CHOICES!!!!!!
If this is a real problem then if you know of a solution you could make a lot of money out of it. Design a more appropriate helmet and market it. Why wait for someone else to do it?
No wonder the manufacturers ignore this market, and I don't blame them.
As for the whiners, too bad, so sad. I've been riding most of my life (first time I was 3 and rode behind my grandpa on his horse). The only time I've worn a helmet was for a clinic that required it. I've been concussed twice, but I can't tell any lasting damage.

How much are we willing to bet that the NY Times searched for a black woman with the longest hair possible. Seriously though, Equestrian riders don't necessarily have a problem with long hair.

Yes sir you made a great point my fear also. I live in a ranching town you would get laughed out of the county for wearing a helmet.

If you want to ride horses and have 'Big' hair its simple...CUT YOUR FUCKING Hair or find another sport...Why does it have to be a Race thing...???
So how does a big hair Texas girl manage....not a black thing!
Just another thing that they can call racist...So boring and stale now....
Yea, this is total BS. I've been told that I have a giant head and back in Jr high, they just got me a bigger helmet. No big deal.
Just another victim.
Sounds like a business opportunity to me... Why don't those who complain make themselves rich?
Cowboys wear cowboy hats, not helmets. Maybe cowboy hats are racist, tooγCome to think of it, everything is racist. (Or so we have been told.)

On a lighter note, a contestant on "The Price is Right" had super long hair and had to play "Golf Game." Thankfully she had model Janice Pennington help her make the putt.
If your world is the mainstream media and you are reacting to this, you're doing exactly what they want.
This is not the world I live in.
?????? I'm not with you...elaborate...
