What would happen if there was a internet blackout?
🗣️ DISCUSSION 💬
I know the obvious answers.. we would have no internet, ha.. but it really seems to be picking up.

What else would this affect?
Clif High (who I don't particularly like) did an excellent run down on why it won't happen and it's chiefly because of the no banking thing. The elite cannot survive in any form for any length of time without being able to move money.
This is the truth
Not unless they could mitigate the effects on us I'd like to think.
Right.. yeah, no more white-collar crime
Internet access is not needed to use GPS. I use previously downloaded maps and GPS with no Internet on flights when I am bored.
GC
People would freak out if the EBT system went down for sure.
Stores and banks would not be able to conduct business. You couldnt buy a pack of chewing gum.
What about the electric grid and gas service? With the advent of smart meters, Im sure they rely heavily on the internet merely to function.
I would go fishing.
Came here to say this
Less faggots
bingo^ & less child porn, etc.
I think the internet has to 'end' for awhile to be replaced with another means of communication.
can't build our new world on a Rotten foundation.
Q did tell us to archive, and the internet already seems smaller...
People would be walking aimlessly in circles until they starved or died of thirst because most people have so little real world skills they can do nothing.
exactly, they have NO idea or appreciation for where their food comes from! the current system coddles fat f*cks. cows are too awesome for them/they're the ones who should be eating bugs.
I guess I'd throw the frisbee to my dog more often.
Our electricity, phone and internet went out at the same time once during the time Q was posting a lot. It made me realized how unprepared I was.
Wanna know for real? No banking, no tickets, no warehousing, etc. All the info now is thin clients, data in servers, web transactions.
No water, prolly no electricity, too, because those are controlled over web systems.
Media blackout is just a tiny byproduct of cancelled net.
I’m not positive, but I think most utilities have a manual backup setting to bypass technology. My town’s water system only uses the internet for automatic notifications, not automatic operation.
I would have a better tan and there would be fewer weeds in my garden.
Starlink wouldn't be affected, right?
I've got my Starlink going live in the next couple weeks. I'll ping you if we get 10 days of darnkess.
Seriously, I got it not because I can't get terrestrial internet access, but because Starlink is an ISP. They are unaffected by fiber cuts, regional blackouts, etc. because they are directly connected at the major network access points. In theory, if large swaths of th Internet go dark, I would still have interconnectivity with any site that has direct peering with a NAP. Though NAPs are an archaic term, there are now many more known as IXPs or Internet Exchange Point, which an ISP would have direct peering with.

Excellent information, thanks
Your connection to their satellite might go uninterrupted, but if the OP question about 'no internet' occured then starlink would also go down as taking down the entire net would require collapsing the NAPs
Correct, with the exception of any site with direct peering to a NAP/IXP. GAW would go down. The banks would probably still be a direct connect. Hard to tell until it happens. If the NAP/IXPs go down, then Starlink would be likely worthless, unless they have some content or information to be published from their ground stations.
And how would this affect 4g and 5g.. is that all connected?
It would all go down. Including starlink. I doubt it happens tho
I'd go into withdrawls
Its coming😎🍿
I think the first and biggest effect woul +++ No Carrier
We still have phones for comms?
No emailing. Many business communicate online between businesses and between locations. Back to snail mail for all documents? Fax? Are governments included? They use this method often. I wonder how much police depend on internet vs intranet?
No banking, no eft, no transferring money to family. No fuel or food purchasing (will businesses acknowledge cash? Could they? Big business is likely internet heavy).
Most people tap their card daily here for their dinner needs from the supermarket for the night.
No sharing of child pornography. No kids claiming their top goal is to be an influencer. Anons no longer warning the masses. (I keep telling peeps the day will come they won't be warned, maybe this is why 🤔).
Depending on length of time, back to barter and trade?
Production would skyrocket?
Cash (or precious metals) is KING!
Maybe rape and other crime would increase?
