"Groats" (from the feed store) is the same damn thing.
A 50lb bag will last you forever and is cheap as shit.
Is it really the same as food grade, or am I a complete moron for even thinking there is such a thing as food grade oats
IMO --- the feed store groats are better.
You pay extra for the grocery store box

Have this question myself. First-time chick owner and we bought organic starter feed from a local farm/mill. All those ingredients are human-good. If it's non GMO /organic /no pesti- or herbi-cides, I'd do it.
SPEZ: not from Tractor Supply, of course. Kek.
I can testify that oatmeal IS a reducer of cholesterol-my numbers were pretty high in spite of the statin my doc had me on. After over a year of me eating oatmeal every morning (my cold cereal is goin stale) my last lab workup in January had the numbers in the artificial range docs like to see. Well, I told my doc it happened because of the oatmeal and he replied "it was the drug" (anectdotal testimony is NOT MD based :(.) and I requested that the prescription be withdrawn. He repeated his "belief" and since the statin was Pfizer poison, I knew I could do better with red rice yeast that the doctor claimed wasn't uniform in dosages. This summer will be the proof in the puddin when lab results come out. In the meantime, I am enjoying my variation: after the oatmeal is cooked, I add 2 eggs and poach them for 1 minue 32 seconds in the microwave. 😊
But why would you lower your cholesterol? Remember, they lie and they want us dead.
Well, aren't there certain types of plaques that are bad? I forget what I read.
Plaques are caused by inflammation, which can be caused by sugar, syrup, refined carbohydrates, "vegetable" (seed) oils and other junk. The fact that cholesterol is involved in the repair is incidental.
Reducing cholesterol to prevent atherosclerosis is a bit like banning band aids to reduce the number of grazes when you fall!
Statistically, people with higher levels of cholesterol live longer. Cholesterol is essential in making vitamin D with sunlight.

I was exposed to Agent Orange in January 1964, and there are medical consequences I am experiencing that defy treatment. My levels were astronomical.. Type 2 diabetes, hypertension and probably others as well.
Lucky you. My Dad's exposure ended up destroying his kidneys and he died from a rejected transplant. VA never did approve any disability even though he met all the eligibility requirements for agent orange exposure. He died massively in debt.
I am very sorry for your loss.. If this was in the 90s the VA was in "we settle claims by attrition" mode; I had a problem then in finding my medical records 'lost somewhere in the system"..
The Pact Act came too late for far too many and the fact the 'resident' signed the bill won't stop what will happen to him...
Oatmeal does reduce cholesterol.
Yepper and a poke in the eye of the MD (Imma MD, you gotta listen...) for showing his hand as a drug pusher...... 😎
Fire the MD. MD = Malicious Drugger
I am going to go through the process (I am with the VA) next month. I fear the doc is wound a bit tight. He went ballistic over a 1/8th inch fold in my mask! 😒 Yes, the bastion of applied medical science has hung on to Dr Birx's piece of pasta hangin on the wall. 😢
Oh. I am so sorry.
I see what you did there
Oh, I thought you were serious. Been baking enough oatmeal cookies.
Me too. Going to make some tomorrow. I need to use more oatmeal because I just love it. During the baking process I have no idea where the flakes go. I think I will actually make cookies tomorrow because I've been really working on making pizza dough and it absolutely sucks, my dough is terrible so I think I'll go back to cookies just to have something successful happen there in the kitchen, LOL
Fruit cobbler using oatmeal very good also. 5 ingredients and easy to make, taste good.
butter, honey, fruit, cinnamon, and then top with oatmeal.
I have apples that need gone today, HMM
Just feed the apples to the pigs. They make bacon and that is WAY better.
Apple, frozen fruit, butter, honey and oatmeal work well.
The leftover cranberry dressing makes great 'Cranberry Bog'. Which is similar to a cobbler.
Oh yeah. Just anything sweet. I put frozen fruit for cobbler.
Hey, what a great idea, I'm going to try that.
I bought a bread maker years ago at Goodwill just to try it, we all got hooked. But I did not use it to its full potential until I got The Bread Lover's Bread Machine Cookbook, by Beth Hensperger. I told you that to tell you this- with the machine and this book (which also has a pizza dough section), experimentation is easy! They have dough settings that get the mixing and rising cycles perfect.
We learned that gluten levels are very important, and how to switch out ingredients in good proportion. In our case, we were going for the honey wheat Mellow Mushroom dough, and the very thin NY style. Save money on super special flour, buy a bag of Anthony's brand pure gluten instead. Then find a restaurant supply in town and get you a big sack of King Arthur organic good stuff.
Eat Ivermectin! Be healthy as a horse.
neiiiiiiiiiiiggghhhhh!!!!!
I'm not rotund and I bake! You have to be very careful making the recipe but it's pretty easy otherwise.

Awesome.
Oatmeal cookies are legit delicious.
I see what you did there!
Oats are a natural preservative as well. Put some oat flour (just grind up the flakes) in bread to get longer shelf life.
Oats are delicious. For an amazing, light pancake, substitute 1/3 oat flour, 1/3 rice flour, 1/3 wheat flour for the flour in the recipe. You're welcome.
Oat meal (flakes) store for a long time, oat groats store forever (much like wheat berries). Oatmeal cookies don't last at all, tho. They seem to walk right off the cookie sheet. Add chocolate chips to the recipe and well, I have moderate self-control but not when we're talking oatmeal chocolate chip cookies.
