Where in the Bible does Jesus say, "I am the breath of life"?
Genesis 2:7
King James Version
7 And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
For some reason Jesus doesn't seem to be quoted here, and I can't find the words "I am the breath of life".
...The Father, The Son, and the Holy Spirit were present at this moment...
Because God created us he knew exactly what we needed...very good...
Agreed fren... Cheers...
Not to rain on your religion.... but it is this mentality that if you are not on OUR SAVIORS SIDE, God will FORSAKE AND ABANDON YOU!
Gonna be honest... I dont think God is that much of a douchebag.
I pretty much only have 2 best friends, and both have had NDEs. Both told me God never judged him on what he believed... religion had DICK to do with it.
It was this judgmental attitude from the church of the 80s and 90s along with all their scandals that led me to the left. I am on the Trump train of couse, but was a douchebag leftist for the majority of my life, until gamergate. After that, I smartened up.... and had children. Both are causalities of my awakening.
I think the bible is right in a lot of respects, but I just refuse to believe that God, the creator of you and I, would judge all of us so shallowly.
He doesn't forsake us. He gave his only son for us. The ball is now in your court. Accept or reject it
A lot of people imprint their own ideas and values onto a force that is supposed to permeate all of creation and reality. I bought my roommate a poster of Jesus a long time ago with a quote that says “I never said that shit…” - Jesus. Pretty much sums it up for me.
HAHAHA!!! Dont know if I said this before, but I have only 2 best friends, both who have had NDEs, and they both have changed 180, and expressed that God is nothing like what any religion has ever expressed and is completely forgiving.
So yeah, keep in mind how many times they have doctored that book.
Pretty sure they put in a lot of words in Jesus's mouth.
Both of them said also that during their little life review, they felt every little interaction from both sides, and that they judged themselves harshly and felt damned near suicidal because of how they hurt people. I think that a god who ends entire civilizations would be very forgiving of any transgression.... just my opinion.
I hear ya. All that feels intuitively correct to me. I just think most people whether it’s through fear or some other type of programming assume a point of view like that is the work of Satan. I think more likely these types of things are beyond human comprehension in terms of what we are physically capable of perceiving and that by getting outside your body I.e. near death experiences or trance like states whether drug induced or not can give you more of an unbiased look at these types of phenomenon.
Although I may not agree with you... I accept your point of view as yours and your right to speak it... Cheers fren...
Totally brother. I get that a lot. I am just not too keen on telling god what his rules are and arent.
I understand fren... Cheers...
Thats a Big AMEN! u/#correct
Cheers fren...
I like Jesus, but I draw the line at drinking his blood and eating his flesh. WTF came up with this nasty shit anyway? AYFKM?
It's symbolic, not literal!!! Their's a big religion out there that has many things wrong, and this is one of them!!
The catholic church makes it seem literal.
I believe it is spiritual. Many with Jesus thought it was literal too. They recoiled from it. They didn't get that it is spiritual.
Well...have you ever thought they could be wrong?
The church uses sorcery in their eucharist ceremonies during Mass. That is different from simply praying over the bread and wine.
Well it would certainly be wrong to use sorcery during communion...
So I should be OK with symbolic cannibalism?
No. Jesus is asking us become one with him. To read the bible, to pray without ceasing. To walk in his shoes. We need his Manna. To learn from him.
Jesus is okay with it, but I wouldn't call it cannibalism. When we eat bread and drink wine, we remember Jesus because he is the bread of life.
Nobody drinks His blood and eats His flesh...that is pretty sacrilegious...our red wine/grape juice and wafer symbolically remind us of Jesus' sacrifice on the cross...his broken body and shed blood...
How is it sacrilegious when it is exactly what they say in the ceremony?
METAPHOR
Then why say it? I've taken it and they say it every time. The blood of Christ, the body of Christ, sounds like cannibalism to me. I'll pass.
It's a reminder of the last supper. Jesus made the metaphor, not the catholic church. Was the last supper cannibalism? No.
Thank you!!
The Last Supper is when Jesus shared the bread and wine and explains it all.
Have you ever heard of the literary term "metaphor"?
"Metaphors are direct comparisons that state one thing is another"
So when they say..."This is my blood shed for you" and you know you are drinking grape juice that is a pretty good indication it is a metaphor...
Same when they say "This is my body, broken for you"...
Hope this clears it up...
The Catholics believe in transubstantiation...that the communion wine and wafer miraculously turn into Jesus' blood and body...but that is a discussion for another day...
That IS a bizarre tradition, isn't it? Always thought that was weird.
Here's a comedy skit about it.
Seriously, I found the above really funny. The Mythology Guy is surprisingly respectful to Christianity--I love his work.
John 6:47 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life. 48 I am that bread of life. 49 Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead. 50 This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die. 51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world. 52 The Jews therefore strove among themselves, saying, How can this man give us his flesh to eat? 53 Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you. 54 Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day. 55 For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. 56 He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him. 57 As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me. 58 This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever. 59 These things said he in the synagogue, as he taught in Capernaum. 60 Many therefore of his disciples, when they had heard this, said, This is an hard saying; who can hear it? 61 When Jesus knew in himself that his disciples murmured at it, he said unto them, Doth this offend you? 62 What and if ye shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before? 63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.
Again...this proves the point that this is a metaphorical passage because in reality none of us LITERALLY drink Jesus' blood or cannibalize his body...but it is required that we do that metaphorically...that's what threw the Jews off..they took his speech literally...
Saying Jesus is the bread of life, living water, the vine, etc. are all metaphors...
Jesus explains it himself, multiple times. He is bread but not like the manna in the desert, which the fathers ate and still died. He is the spiritual bread, that if we eat, we will not die, because it is the spirit that gives life. The manna was the symbol. The real bread is Jesus, and he is “bread indeed”.
Yes and very apt analogies...basic to life...it reminds me of the woman at the well...how mystifying when Jesus said he could give her living water so she would never thirst again...God is so practical and down to earth...so relatable....
Cheers fren and have a blessed day...
The deeper you delve into science, the more apparent the hand of God becomes. Whether it's the almost chaotic subatomic world of Quantum, or the behaviors of SpaceTime at the Astronomical; the laws that make the world we know, act as it does - go beyond human understanding.
Not saying they will always be beyond our understanding; but for someone to chalk our existence up to mere chance, has little understanding of science beyond the HS level.
I agree, it's amazing how science continues to prove the existence of God rather than debunking His existence... Have a blessed day fren... Cheers...
Wow. That’s amazing. Even Science is telling us that we need Jesus to live.
I completely agree fren... Cheers...
Request Sticky.
