Umm. This is one I've never heard before. WTF is wrong with society. (media.greatawakening.win)

I hate words like "social battery". Its a fact that some people can socialise for hours and others get tired very quickly. Personally, its not about energy or battery, but how much you can withstand group-stupidity.

Exactly. Life is too precious to waste with stupid people.

Personally, I could spend hours in intense conversation with a small group of people. Put me in a big loud crowd making small talk and I won't be able to leave soon enough.

Thats been my life. I get along great with small group of people, but having to suffer through a large crowd just makes me crave to write some code or reinstall some servers, lol.

It's a metaphor for what you're describing. That's all.

This entire thread is a bunch of old people saying "kids these days" and shaking their fists in the air.

I am very wary of using terms like social battery etc. Soon there will be a mental disorder "low social battery" and mandatory prescriptions to recharge our batteries lest we become anti-social and before you know - you forgot to say hi to a coworker and you are admitted into psych ward due to "dead social battery syndrome"

I am only half joking.

Every Generation has done that since time immemorial.

They even have preserved Roman and Greek writings of older people complaining about or not understanding younger ones. The old “Back in my day” Trope.

It’s amusing in the sense that the more things change. The More they stay the same. The Young will continue to say and do things that perplex the old.

I'd argue with your comment but my social battery is at less than 10% and I forgot my charger at work.

oh no thats a thing. I have a low social battery. I can only be at a party or a gathering for so long before i get tired of them and want to go home.

It's just another description of "introvert". Totally normal.

I'm usually among the 1st to go. Also, I try to avoid sharing rides w/ anyone except a gf. Always want to drive. So I can get away.

Came here to say essentially the same thing. Generally speaking, introverts are drained by gatherings and recharged by solitude. Extroverts are obviously the opposite.

Extroverts gain energy being around others. Introverts lose energy being around others.

I guess that's a new term for introvert. I freaking hate socializing.

It's actually just a metaphor to describe one's longevity in social situations.

Just because you haven't encountered it or do not feel that way doesn't mean that it's something inherently negative. It is usually only "known" to people who have short lasting batteries. Socializing can be very tiresome and much time is wasted in useless company. Some people thrive and "recharge" / relax with friends and family, others recharge during alone time.

It's literally just a metaphor for how much in the way of socializing you can handle before needing a break. My wife used to take me to hours-long parties and I'd need a break about 90 minutes in, whereas everyone else could go all night. I would be described as having a low social battery.

What's wrong with using a metaphor to describe a phenomenon? Or is this just like some boomer-type "back in my day we didn't have a term for this" kind of thing?

I mean that basically describes me. I am fine in a small group of 8-10 people but I hate going anywhere that is busy. I prefer to be alone and just philosophize about society and video games.

Used to use this word. Woke up a long time ago when I was still in high school, and it made my extroverted tendencies dwindled into becoming an introvert. Realized just how fucked the world and most of its people are. Glad people have been waking up, but it needs to be kicked into high gear. That, or most people really are just that retarded.

There was a radio advertisement running while they were hammering the boosters that compared your "effectiveness" of the shot to a battery needing a recharge. Maybe a pattern to this.

Anything coming after the word social is the exact opposite. Social Justice, Social Security, Social Norm, Social Studies, Social Equity, etc…beware of the word Social.

More dehumanizing language, part of the agenda. Introverts gain energy from inner private time, extroverts gain energy from other people. One isn't better than other, just different.

Sounds like a new "politically correct" term to call someone anti-social.

It's actually just a metaphor for describing longevity in a social situation. It's slang. Most people use it as a gag.
