Could be, it's just not very wide in its reach. Most of the people I'm aware of who are on welfare aren't people who would pose a threat to the government. The aged, the lame, the mentally deficient, drug addicts... All the able-bodied people I know are model citizens, work for their money, and are damned fed up with our government.
Indeed it DOES get overwhelming... almost. However, I don't think[THEY] realize that [THEY] are inadvertently creating a new class of people who are becoming hardened to their plans and who will be their worst adversaries when TSHTF. If things get spicy and the 'boogaloo' kicks off, "walking down the street" will be the least of their worries.... just surviving to the next day will be their constant worry.
I think it's simpler than what people are postulating. The "bread" in "bread and circuses" literally referred to the bread they sold in or near circuses. All modern stadiums have endless food choices within the stadium that are far overpriced, but increasingly good in quality and variety. These endless overly expensive food options within the stadium are the "bread" and the game is the circus.
They're paid millions to keep their mouths shut and do what they're told. There's a LOT of money riding on the outcome of the game...every single game...every single week...every single year...in every single division and sport.
Think about it...How many times have YOU personally witnessed a really bad call on a play in sportsball that they let stand??? I never watched sportsball on a regular basis. Only when a captive audience have I watched it...and I've witnessed a LOT of bad calls that were upheld over the years. I can't imagine what a fan has witnessed.
How many boxing movies have you watched where the manager or "big shot" tells the boxer to "go down in round X" - here's a stack of $$$ ??? It's almost cliche at this point.
REALLY sad when you realize just how many people out there either don't believe or don't want to believe that it's all rigged. Think about that for a second...Most out there are "REAL DUMB" and "real gullible". Their gummint would't lie to them...
I agree with this. I noticed this back in the 1990s and started tuning out of sports. I'm now sports free, and don't know the name of anyone in sports. The biggest names in sport could come up to me right now and i'd think they're just a group of strangers.
We are learning, slowly, but we are learning. I hope that is enough to throw a wrench in the plans of the Cabal. When the circus went woke we, most Americans said enough, we won't watch, but staying away is very difficult if your "circus" team is doing well, so (I believe) many have gone back. Plus it is a distraction to take our thoughts away from what will surely worry us to death just thinking about it all the time. We can't let the circus control us, but hopefully we can control the circus so that it alleviates some stress.

Because the professional athlete is s cultural hero that we are told to admire and aspire to be. If they were paid a normal salary they would be unremarkable and undistinguished. In most sports it's hard for normal people to judge physical talent on their own.
