The ultimate crime prevention tactic? Arm everyone. Think about it. If every person was armed, who would have the courage to initiate an attack? No unprotected sheep? Nothing but wolves? Isn't that the basic premise of every Western TV show from the 50's and 60's?

I agree 100% with the idea of The Armed citizen will control criminals but, the word mandatory is exactly like every other liberal/communist Control idea. Some people are Too stupid to carry a firearm and Forcing this will not be safe. The basic idea is correct, the 'wild west was a made up lie by hollywood, because the criminal knew, that every adult was armed, so 'crime' was few and far between.
Yeah until we do something about the sheer number of emotionally unstable retard normies it's not a great idea to have everyone among the current population packing at all times. Firearm discipline needs to be instilled from a young age, you can't just hand guns to adults who are still mentally teenagers with impulse-control issues.
The key here is Not Force people to carry, but allow those who are Ready, without restrictions, and being protected from 'liberalism' in the courts when they have to USE that firearm to stop the criminal.
Mandatory open carry will only work if you first have mandatory firearm training from a young age.
I agree. The general population isn't ready for this at all.
I think gun safety should be a required class in schools and practical self-defense should be required in high school (and include whatever education is needed to carry in their state). And riflery should be a sport made available to as many schools as possible, maybe by encouraging it with funding.
(But also, people should be allowed to not carry because of personal freedom, we just need to make it wildly more convenient so more people actually do it.)
Exactly.
How about "encouraged?"
You may be thinking of Kennesaw. They passed a law that requires every homeowner to own and maintain a firearm. Doesn't require them to carry though. Still, home invasions dropped something like 80-something-% after the law was passed.
Kennesaw, GA, a little south of Atlanta. Crime went from a lot to way down.
My state recently lifted all restrictions on anyone that is not a convicted felon.
However, I do not advocate nor would I ever open carry. In my opinion open carry is like open season. Someone intends to commit a murder especially mass murder the first people to eliminate are those they can see are armed.
Open carry is like carrying a big sign that says shoot me first.
Those that want to open carry by all means have at it but I will carry concealed every time.
I'm with you. I think open carry is stupid. I am happy to carry concealed without a permit. Although I have a permit.
I am one of the generation that grew up with guns. And being from a small southern one redlight town, me and my neighborhood friends, all cousins you might imagine, were hunting cats at the dump at night in early elementary school. You did not have to tell us kids not to point a gun a someone. The four rules of firearms safety were common since.
Yes concealed carry is a deterrent because they don't know where the counterattack might come from. Someone open-carrying can still be taken by surprise and their gun stolen after they've been bashed over the head.
Be a good starting point for negotiation of gun control. The republicans just keep giving up bots.
It would certainly give pause, and really that's where the mind kicks in and stops the stupid shit.
But we all know that.
Yep yet when you bring this up they try to gaslight you "well ackshulaly western towns had strict gun control..."
No they did not have strict gun laws. The gun control lobby want you to thank that. Only a few towns restricted carrying guns in town, and non of them were in states but territories.
Fucking based as fuck. Imma carry round a fuckin ar10 (mebbe someday- till i can afford badassness i guess my shit ass tauris 380 will have to do kek).
The wording is "Shall not be infringed" which is pretty clear, along with "The right to bear arms". Not everyone wants to have a weapon. Those that are interested tend to also take safety classes and want to know a lot about all aspects of what they have.
People should always have the right to choose. Open carry should be the standard but not mandatory.
We must fix the economy, and political system. Mandatory open carry is just asking for a civil war 2016 to 2025.
You can make a horse carry, but you cannot make him aim.
Mandatory would also be an unfunded mandate, and there's a lot of folks whose weapons I don't want to subsidize.
So I have an idea- everyone that wants to open carry is automatically deputized. I’ll go ahead and accept that award for ‘best idea of the year’ now. Thanks.
In the old west you always had the outlaws with guns and you had to arm yourself to protect what was yours. Today we have the outlaws with guns and the "govment" want to disarm all law abiding citizens to protect WHO? Answer: the criminals and the criminals that made the laws banning guns!
Barney Fife
Sorry. I know people that should not carry guns.
Most of them know it,and don't carry.
