This seems like a non-starter. The union boss was going off on some socialist sounding crap at Biden. Trump is the kind of people he was screeching about.
I don’t doubt our president’s negotiating abilities. I just don’t think there’s a common goal there. Briben isn’t Left enough for them.
I’m sure not all or even most auto workers feel this way, but he’s the face they “elected” to serve their union.
The union bosses have been corrupt for many years! The rank and file go to their Union meetings do their structured work carry out their structured agenda.
The union boss Cisco and voted totally different way, than the workers!
CEOs getting a 40% raise while cutting the workers benefits.
I don't think the rank and file voted for that.
Think of union bosses like the uniparty.
They have had favored outcomes with everyone above them involved. They are the largest manufacturing sector of our country. Trump will get them to make a deal or he will expose them for who they really are. Biden Obama Clinton Bush let them get away with this shit. Trump will not.
Yup, while pay and benefits may be at the forefront, this strike is ALL about the push for EV's by Biden and GM. I know several UAW workers and the number of Trump supporters in the union is quite surprising.
Absolutely. The rank and file can see what will happen if EV's are the mandate. No more engine or transmission plants, more and more imported parts and batteries (GM is half owned by the Chinese) which all translates into the loss of American jobs. Give the strikers credit, they see the writing on the wall and could be our very best hope to shut down Biden and EV mandates altogether.
Unions are Communist by nature. I very much doubt all the members are Commies tho. I know my cousin had no choice but to join one to get a decent job in the field he wanted.
Even in "right to work" states, many unions can negotiate "fair share" clauses into contracts which basically means anyone covered by the collective bargaining agreement has to pay the dues even if they choose to not be in union.
Yep, I took a job at a big company ,with a big union once. Company HR slid a piece of paper across the table that signed me up for the union and deducted dues from my pay. I said I did not want to join the union. He said it wasn't a choice.

Union elected=installed. The guys not living off the dues probably thinks differently.
Unions are pretty much "encouraged" {at gunpoint} to vote Democrat. It's a money circle jerk.
However, there is one common goal here Trump is after:
The opposition to the banning of gasoline cars.
Plus it's kills the Biden administration with a pretty hefty headshot

Most real workers are Trump supporters.
It's the heads of the unions and their underlings that are in cahoots with the uniparty, tech, and media

Is it because EVs have way fewer parts to manufacture and so a lot of people would be out of a job?
Bingo. Aside from manufacturing, how many oil & gas jobs will be lost?
Not only fewer parts but a bunch of the parts will be imported from Chy-na. You can take that to the bank.
Back, and to the left !

The Union's demands are also ludicrous, and apparently inflexible.
