You know I was talking to my Mom. Her and my step father are typical Fox news watching, low-info right wingers (although they DID go to some early stage stuff in Washington when Obama was still the President)
They have this kind of opinion. "Gaetz is an asshole. HE'S HOLDING EVERYTHING UP BECAUSE HE HATES MCCARTHY."
That was before the shutdown.
Now its: "He got what he wanted, now they all BETTER stop because a lot of people want him GONE! They are going to RUIN AMERICA by holding things up like this!"
But here's what I'm saying about it.
SINCE WHEN did we all want to do what the Republican majority claims is the TOP PRIORITY? Haven't we all been clamoring to change their priorities ever since TRUMP WAS ELECTED??
For example: they all told us the most important thing to do was settle the electors and figure out the "WILL OF THE VOTERS" as soon as possible when it was January 6th. I remember polls showing almost like 80% of all voters saying they should "take as long as needed to make sure they got it right" or some opinion like that. DID THEY GIVE TWO SHITS WHAT WE THOUGHT?
Did FOX News ever even HINT that there was a fundamental disagreement between the constituents and their elected Representatives on the matter?
No and no.So why ON EARTH should we care what "THEY" think about Gaetz and what he has gotten accomplished?
Why should we spurn him and the others for "working with Democrats to accomplish their goal" when McCarthy and the RINOs DO THAT ROUTINELY AND SCREW OVER AMERICAN PEOPLE?
The truth is McCarthy DID NOT HAVE THE SUPPORT OF THE DEMOCRATS and if it could have saved his job HE WOULD HAVE USED THEIR VOTES TO HIS ADVANTAGE. The only reason you hear it mentioned is because they voted him out and just so happened to help Gaetz by doing that. Gaetz has TOO MUCH PRINCIPLE for 99% of these people.
That's why they hate him. If he made a lot of enemies, how can that NOT be a good thing, considering how we think of most of Congress?
I grew up in Florida and consider Matt the best political leader in my lifetime. I'm glad we see a lot of the plan unfolding. I don't mind government shutdown, my social security checks for Sept. Oct. Nov. and part of Dec. are already taken because of being over the earnings cap last year and its not enough to live on here anyways. I retired early and moved abroad, came back and had to return to work, but that's ok, work doesn't hurt ya!
This is what I find funny about the entire thing. I believe the straw that broke the camel's back was "Biden" outing him about their secret deal regarding Ukraine funding. I don't think Gaetz had the votes until "Biden" told everyone and ratted him out. Fucking hilarious.
I never thought McCarthy would release the tapes, he could taste the speakers job so much he would promise anything. I do have a question, does McCarthy still able to keep the speakers salary?

Oh I'm sure he does. Actually, he may lose the speaker pay, however the kickbacks he makes and is making are still his.
