Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evoloving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
Strangely, saying "cheese" does not even make your mouth to shape like its smiling. Always bothered me.
Me too. So I ignore the command and just smile. No need to say anything!
Funny you say that. When I was young I argued with my father over this. He won by emphasizing the ..eeeeeeze. His cheeks puffed out, presenting the smirk. Cheeeeeze. I'm sure I said it. Consequences. But I enjoyed pissing him off, for some reason. kek
Have you tried saying linberger cheese? Perhaps Roquefort? Or Gouda? Go try in the mirror then report back.
Just did. Duck lips both times
Oh how do I quack thee? Let me quack the ways!
Huh?
Just sold a bucket if sparks...
What? It does too.
Cheese is also wonderful - I would argue, if not a superfood, at least it's pretty fucking super.
This is honestly one of the silliest subthreads in the General I've seen in my life - it's almost like a plant intended to justify all this codswallop about moving this thing to a weekly.
Edit: While we're at it. Pizza is also one of the best foods on the planet. Yeah it sucks that "cheese" and "pizza" (along with many others) are now known as pedo terms. But. Get a fucking grip. The foods themselves are still fantastic and it's ridiculous to let connotations ruin it.
I disagree: this thread is awesome for GC. LOL.
In my experience "cheeeeeeeze" makes my 4 year old look absurd - dreadful smiles. But that might just be his style as bad, artificial smiles run in the family.
And yeah, everyone loves cheese pizza. Bastards.
Heh.
Regarding cheese pizza - as much as I love cheese, and pizza, it's gotta have like 5 on there to count and even then. I typically go for a mix of meat/veg (IS, GP, onion, mushroom being a favorite when I do homemade)(which, interestingly, the dough recipe in the little book that came with my KitchenAid mixer has been hard to top and I have pretty much standardized on)(though they do not mention rest dough 1-2 days in fridge for Way Moar Better).
For several years we order black olives and mushrooms on pizza at a local Italian restaurant. It was a compromise because of price increases. We used to get three toppings with pepperoni on half. Now hubby likes olives and mushrooms better.
I have a kitchen aid and don't remember seeing that recipe!
We have been trained to smile while saying cheese. But if you just say cheese, you dont have to extend your lips like you are smiling. Try just saying cheese.
Saying cheese makes you show your teeth
I've done it a million times I'm not doing it now just to prove it in the absolutely stupidest argument I've been in on here and that says a lot.
Maybe your face doesn't work the same, I have no idea.
Dont get me wrong, I love cheese as a food, but its a fact that when you say cheese your lips don't get into smiling position on their own. Stupid or not, its a fact and you refuse to confirm it, even though it takes just a second ;)
As for how it became that the word "cheese" was used to take pictures - I have no idea, all I know is that its a weird choice.
