And here they go again, Medical Facilities (GP) blackmailing me to make an appointment by withholding migraine medication. (Message below) They gotta make those $$ from insurance for visits…. Is this even legal???
🧘Mental/Physical Health 🏋🏼♂️
“ Good morning! You have not been seen by Dr. **** since 5-23-2023. You are overdue for an office visit. We will need to get you scheduled for an appt to be able to continue with your refills. Please call the office to schedule an appt. CCMA”
Note this one migraine med, prescibed by neurologist not them, is the only thing I take. All other health I manage via exercise, diet and supplements.
It's legal because of insurance companies.
Now, technically, of course it's bullshit, but in terms of legalities yes they can do it.
Try calling the neurologist office and tell them you need your prescription refilled. It usually works for me. I do see the docs usually twice a year, some of the once a year. My prescriptions don’t align with their appointments so when I call, they usually just call the pharmacy.
It's for your "safety"
“Oftentimes doctors will want to schedule periodic appointments to look over lab tests and assess how well the medication is treating your condition before renewing your prescription. This is particularly common when starting a new maintenance medication like blood pressure or diabetic medications.”
yep, I get that, I just hate when they do this as it seems takes away my control over the situation. Guess I’ll go in cause I do like reviewing my blood tests to measure how my supplements are effecting them.
affecting - different meaning.
Thanks!!!!
Can you get it prescribed by the neurologist, instead? I know, this sucks. It seems that anybody who has a prescription medication "needs" to be seen twice a year, even if it's something that will potentially save their lives and they'd die without it. I don't know if this is an AMA policy or actual law.
I’m going to do that but I’ll still have to go in to get a referral to see neurologist. Insurance gets you no matter what.
Shame. It seems they wouldn't want to have to pay for seemingly unnecessary visits. Makes no sense.
Have you tried low dose magnesium oxide twice a day as a preventative? While it doesn't completely eliminate them for me, it has greatly reduced the amount I get. I take 200mg magnesium oxide twice a day. If I forget to take one it can trigger a migraine, especially if it hasn't been too long since I forgot one before. 😅 My doctor recommended it. She actually prescribed it, and when I went to the pharmacy to get it filled, the pharmacist laughed at me said it's cheaper to buy it over the counter, so that's what I do. And then when I have a break through migraine, I take 1/4 to 1/2 of the original Dramamine. If it doesn't help within 30 minutes, I take the rest of the pill. My doctor suggested Dramamine or Benadryl. The Dramamine works best for me.
yep. I take magnesium oxide. These migraines started after a heat stroke in the Army many years ago. Don't think theres anything I haven’t tried unfortunately
Oy, sorry to hear that. I'm surprised your doctor wants to see you more than once a year for a refill. Or they're starting to notify you early so you can make sure to be seen? I have stopped quite a few medicines in the past due to doctors holding my prescriptions hostage. I felt like I didn't need the meds bad enough, but when you find something that helps like that especially migraines...yeah. Maybe one of the online pharmacies where people are getting ivermectin?
In addition to it being BS, doctors get pressured by state medical boards when they prescribe for people they haven't seen. Obviously this varies state-to-state. The med boards work behind the scenes policing doctors that prescribe too many opioids, or ivermectin, or whatever random stuff they feel like. I know a doctor whose license was threatened that way. Anyway, the doctor's office probably doesn't care and is just making their own policies extra-compliant within the suggested "common sense" guidelines to avoid trouble. Which is still BS.
Have you tried reynoldmeds.com? Could be cheaper than your copay.

My grandmother has a neurologist that prescribes her a dementia medication. After a day or two of missing it she can’t even talk, mixes everything up bad, and gets paranoid. We ran out, because I dropped the ball, and I called them and asked for a refill. They of course said we needed to come in but could not see her for 3 weeks. I asked for enough to get her to that apt. They said no.
Believe I popped off on them and told them to fuck off as politely as I could. I went and found her a white doctor that for damn sure wasn’t from India with a full Indian staff.
Dang that’s horrible. I hate how they try to control us with this crap!
it's legal and mandatory for most insurance. wellness visits are almost always required periodically for insurance
When I use to get migraine's I found damn near instant relief by holding an ice cube/pack on the back right side of my neck.
It worked better than any drug I tried.
Thankfully those days are long gone...
Those Mfers can hurt like a sob and I was exhausted for the rest of the day when they were over...
yep tried that, banana peel on head, submerge feet in ice…you name it, I tried it. 30+ years of these dang things.
Banana peel on head?
KEK!
Never heard of that one.....
Have you tried shooting lightning from your fingertips screaming "UNLIMITED POWERRRRR!" Always works for me
Now that I haven’t tried….
Just to cover all angles of migraines, check with your dentist to see if you are grinding or clinching at night. Allot of times we don't know but a dentist can, by the wear marks on your teeth. Solution is a night guard.
I hear this allot in the dental profession, about 95% adults are grinding their teeth.
Parisites?

Oh excuse me. I forgot that this site gets scrutinize by the English nazis. Now go, grind your teeth away. I don't care.
Western medicine, is treat but not cure which I am sure you are aware. The shit they give you is simply making you reliant on them. You should seek alternatives.
True. I basically have with everything. Just gotta find a way to stop these migraines when they kick in.
I totally understand that, I would maybe check your diet, stressor, etc. Maybe a lifestyle change, change in diet, exercise or something may help as well. I will pray for you!
Pardon me if this sounds demeaning of your migraine situation, but have you tried excedrine migraine? My migraine situation is all but gone, compared to in my youth, but I still get them on the rare occasion. For me anyway, I wish ai had known to try it when I was young. Not good to take all of the time (what medicine is?) and occasionally takes three to do the job, but it works for maybe 90% of the few I still get. You may also consider magic mushrooms. They are known to rewire neural pathways. A go to for cluster headache sufferers.
F@#k the entire medical system. I'm sorry you have the headaches and sorry you have to participate in their system.
I used Excedrin the last 15 years in the Army. Built up an intolerance plus it kills your stomach. But thanks for suggestion!
Carnivore diet.
I wish you well, friend.
