I'm prepped on food, water, guns, ammo, gas, crypto, gold and silver. Honestly tired of waiting at this point.
Unfortunately, I stocked up two years ago, and now the food is past the "expiration date", but of course, that is just a way for the manufacturers to improve their chances of people throwing things away too early so they will buy new things :)
You're supposed to be rotating your stock, eating the old food and buy new when it's on sale. That's Prepper 101.
Yes, I know that is the ideal way, but it's a lot of work to keep up with all those expiration dates :)
You sound like me. If I ever get to the point I’m needing to eat those cans it’ll mean that I’m so hungry that I probably won’t give a damn that it’s past its best before date.
That's a good idea for a prepper calendar
dried food, rice and honey are your friends...
That’s not difficult.
A difficult thing is to really eat these stuff.
We’re used to each fresh food too, but in order to keep the long-lasting stock up to date you need to really eat it, but it’s to a fresh food so at some point you get tired of it and you switch to fresh.
I think the key is to keep the balance:
Eat the stock to keep the expiry dates in order.
Eat a lot of fresh so you don’t get tired.
I took everything when i got it and vaccuum sealed it again. Even expired, if yer hungry or have kids. Your better off. Expiration is just merely a suggestion…. 😝
I have been eating green beans that expired in 2012. They taste just fine !
Honey is a great one that never expires. Super dense too.
It depends on how you stored it. It can get a bit harder to make tasty, especially old beans that were stored in lit conditions (say glass jars, exposed to light). Also frozen meat should not be kept for longer than a year. I learnt that the hard way ...
Depends on the temp, I've had meat over a year old in my deep freeze be just fine when kept at -10F.
ooooooo, what happens if you eat old, frozen meat?
If properly vacuum sealed, you will have a tasty meal!
TMI, but it lasts 24 hours/
If meat is vacuum sealed properly where NO air is in the package, the meat should be good for years. I know from experience. No freezer burn!
I just had some chicken soup last night, two years past the "best by" date on the can. It tasted just fine.
You and me both my friend. You and me both.
The business industries started noticing whenever hurricanes and new zombie apocalyptic movies come out their sales soar. Doomsday is a very profitable campaign.
