I should have been more explicit in that it was not an observation that I was making, but a prediction. It seemed to have helped houses survive in Maui after all.
I wonder if CO residents will notice police start setting up roadblocks as well.
Here in Colorado, people have already forgotten the wildfires of New Years Eve 2021 where 1,000 homes were destroyed by a fast moving fire pushed by high winds.
Origion of the blaze Was embers from a wood fire buried but uncovered by high winds, also power lines whipped by the wind sparked, causing another fire.
Do you remember the first reports that the fire started at a "religious location" (quoted for lack of better term) that had a burn permit and was burning rail road ties? Rail road ties are nearly impossible to light, and once lit they're like an electrical fire... and the reports of local officials not being able to make contact with the property owner... then POOF nothing about the rail road ties, nothing about the religious group anymore, and all the sudden it was Excel's fault. Ha! Lol
Too many forget we're moving into Storm season (and more specifically tornado season) Not even a week has passed since storms moved through the central US and knocking out trees and power.
This might be something to pay attention to, but the alarm need not be raised until foul play is proven
In my head I don’t consider West Texas as the Western United States. To me Texas is kinda just its own thing due to how many geographic regions are in the state. I consider Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Wyoming to be the western United States.
18 hours with no power here, it sounds like a freight train is blowing down the canyon. 114 mph winds reported right up the road from me
Someone on one of the weather broadcasters fb page mentioned that they live by norad, and it is calmer there yesterday and today than it has been in days.. interesting to watch the forecasters scramble to explain why the wind is working like "fingers" rolling off the mountains like waves crashing on a shore
I’m in northern NV and we get these crazy winds. I swear there sounds like a wind generator ABOVE us. I hear it every time the wind is super high. It’s always clear in the sky right in the area where I hear the sound coming from. I’ve lived here all my life and high winds are common here. What I’m describing is different. I used to hear the wind from wherever it’s coming from on the ground level. This is coming from above. This is in combination with the chemtrails and the cloud generators. The clouds don’t move hardly at all during these winds. In the past, the clouds would be swept away with the wind or a front would be coming in, bringing in storm clouds. I know this sounds crazy. Has anyone else noticed this?
There’s also the Venturi effect where winds funneled through a narrow area in a canyon increase in velocity. Simple physics. We’re just east of a saddle that’s exposed to the divide and in a narrowing area of the canyon so at times have crazy gusting winds making the house shake.
It was cranking yesterday in the Golden foothills. I didn’t get the Kestrel out to clock them at our house but a mile away a NWS weather spotter showed 96 mph. Quite a few trees down around our fire district, fortunately no power lines sparking like they did in Larimer Cty.
Are you in the area Xcel shut down power or was there a line down killing your power?
Seems like a wise decision to me. I’ve watched cars and semis blown completely off the road on the interstate west of Denver. The winds coming over and through the mountains there are no joke. 80-90 mph winds aren’t that uncommon. There’s even permanent signs warning high wind area along the roads.
Blue paint sold out at all the local hardware shops, and the staff dont know why...
Blue tarps… are blues tarps still in stock?
This is literally my plan until I can afford to paint. Lol
The Feminazis knew; we need to dye our hair blue too.
Interesting. Any theories on your part?

My neighbor had his roof painted blue recently. I’m in SOFL.
Ah... thanks. You might be on to something!

Bro, yes!
As soon as I'm able, no joke I'm doing this mod.

so, there's that.
Plains kind of winds or winds from a wind tunnel made by the mountains?
Yup, they were very close to the mountain valleys that focus the wind up hurricane forces..
Plains where I’m at.

Passing strange, that... 😢

And the winds are whipping stronger than I’ve seen in a very long time.
Colorado is full of Democrats that moved out of their blue states and ruined Colorado.
Just 20 years ago, Denver was simply one of the most beautiful cities in the US. Mountains, ski and resorts, gorgeous architecture
Now, I avoid this city as much as possible
The entire Western US has become like this. And shitlibs from the midwest and east coast are moving to the western US in droves.
With the internet, social media and TV shows like Yellowstone. The west got “discovered” all of a sudden.
You now need a reservation just to enter Mt. Rainer National Park in the summer. Same thing with Glacier National Park in Montana.
Also social media is ruining Olympic National Park which was a hidden gem for years.
One of the many reasons why I am against immigration and don’t care about declining birth rates.
Take me back to when I was a kid and 2 million less people were in the Seattle area.
If you are in Utah be glad the Mormons deter a lot of shit libs from your beautiful state. The rest of us are getting swarmed. Especially Montana
Not west Texas friend

Chinook winds, down off the foothills, nothing new at all...
Chinook wind explanation
There are also foehn winds
foehn winds
These are concerning during fire weather season.

Yea, we are in the foothills above golden
Nice. Golden Gate here.
Or for Colorado to be the first place with a blackout.
I grew up in Oklahoma City. Do you know how many times we were worried about fires after major windstorms or tornadoes? Zero. Some progress.
I wonder why this would be sold out.

Power an Internet (Comcast) out for about 18h+ - neighbors have Star Link and generator so they are doing great. Crazy times.
Xcel Energy shuts down power for 55,000 as precaution amid strong winds and high wildfire danger
