My dad was diagnosed as type 2 several years ago. He manages with insulin daily. He has had a stint put in to help his arteries stay clear of plaque and his doc wants his LDL level to go down a lot.
Problem is, the heart doc says no red meat or animal products, but the sugar doc says no carbs or fruits. That doesn’t leave much to live on.
I’m inclined to think sugar is worse of the two, so maybe animals fat is a better choice. However, living with high sugar can be managed better than the chance or a heart attack.
If any of you have any thoughts or suggestions about supplements or meds or diet options, I would love to hear them.
Thanks frens!!!
Cholesterol (LDL, HDL whatever) has very little to do with heart issues. The problem is sugar and carbs.
Eat red meat, eggs, animal fat, butter, non-seed oils, cut down on sugars completely. Minimal carbs. Do intermittent fasting. Neutralize acidity by drinking lemon juice + bicarb soda or vinegar on empty stomach. Fix gut health with Yogurt, Yakult, Kimchi, etc.
You will be amazed how quickly the health recovers.
There are so many doctors like Dr Berg, Egbert etc on Youtube who have hundreds of good resources about all this.
Hi, look up Dr. Fung on youtube. He teaches people how to bring themselves out of type 2 diabetes through diet. (Keto) I personally know two people who did so -- one was able to get off her meds and the other got out of the pre-diabetic range, just by diet alone.
You are right that sugar is far worse then animal fat. In fact, while you're on youtube, look up doctors who are on the carnivore diet. Most MDs (like your dad's cardiologist) really don't know or understand nutrition. The doctors on the carnivore diet can answer so many of your questions. When tested, their health numbers and stats are impressive. A couple of names are Dr. Ken Berry, Dr. Chaffee, Dr. Hammond, Dr. Kiltz, Dr. Shawn Baker. Check them out!
I'm not a doctor, but I bet if you got your dad on the carnivore diet, you could eliminate the type 2 diabetes and get him off meds rather quickly . At LEAST get him on the keto diet, if he's not quite ready for carnivore. There is TONS of info on the carnivore on youtube. All the best to you and your dad and God bless you for helping him.
Edited to add, I forgot to mention Dr. Hubberman and Dr. Berg. Both very knowledgeable about health and nutrition. Good luck!
Carnivore diet will eliminate type 2. In months. Keto diet including plants will take longer.
The heart doc is wrong, plain and simple. He's giving standard clinical advice approved by the American Heart Association, bought and paid for by the same folks that created the food pyramid. He's also wrong about salt... you need it and your dad does too, even more so.
Many on GAW know this and will give you links about it. Read them, because you should believe it yourself before you are confident enough to direct his diet.
Second or third the carnivore diet for type 2. Eliminates it. Cholesterol is made by the body not ingesting red meat. Cholesterol goes to areas of damage like a fireman goes to a fire. Higher cholesterol is a signal that there is damage.
This is all stuff I’ve heard from doctors on YouTube.
Seems the sugar and refined foods people are controlling the script for the medical industry. Hence the statins, etc.
I’ve been on ultra low carb for 9 months and I can see my abs again. I eat a lot!
I basically lived on steak and eggs for about a year. Blood sugar is completely back to normal, and nerve pain is gone.
You can fix diabetes with a carnivore or keto diet. Just have to be careful how you wean off sugar and monitor closely
Thank you for the responses!! Will dive in and start researching. ❤️
Long long ago when Dr Atkins was still alive, I had been a regular blood donor for R&D so had a very thorough set of lab results for everything measurable. I had been athletic and clean-food-eating just because it was how my folks did things, made our own breads, cooked our own stuff.
New job involved a lot of travel and I began eating a lot of processed foods, junk food, restaurant food etc. My lab ranges shifted for the worse. Popular diets made things worse, ugh salads... Anyway, landed on Atkins, was easy to stay on during travel and whoa it pulled my numbers right back in line, especially cholesterol. Immediately realized the cholesterol explanations had to be completely wrong and started questioning everything nutritional/ pharmacological. Cholesterol is like pearls- it is part of a natural process that covers up an irritatant. Chemically dissolving the soothing agent is really bad for the organism, and of course doesn't resolve the cause of the irritant.
Essentially, go the opposite way that the MDs and online big sites tell you; their suppositions are based on weak correlation, and their biochemistry is provably wrong. On top of that, their medications cause horrible side effects that require a carousel of equally harmful additional meds.
Nattokinase, a fermented soybean product, has a variety of benefits, but they say not to take it with heart meds because it NATURALLY lowers blood pressure without side effects! Well, we can't have that, can we?
Keep the animal fat and REAL sugar. Cut out soy, flax and seed oils. No synthetic foods and lots of sunshine and fresh air. Works great for me.
We read Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease by Dr. Esselstyn very soon after my husband's heart episode. Life changing for us. Literally.
Dr. Barnard has a book about reversing diabetes that follows a similar food plan as the above. He explains that sugar takes the rap for fat and uses a clogged sink drain as the visual. If the drain is clogged water is going to spill over. But once the drain is clear everything should work as it should.
How Not to Die by Dr. Greger has excellent information as well.
All the above are whole food plant based, not vegan or vegetarian junk/lab food. The documentary Forks Over Knives explains it well and features all the above doctors plus a few more.
Honey is known to be a *insulin balancer. Don't expect drs to state or believe that though I read about it and totally believe it. The days I stick to it no *hypos. NOT diagnosed with diabetes but have a family history and it's a known side effects as such once you remove your stomach. ("Diabetes like problems").
I already live off it for my immune system (no stomach but botched surgery means no spleen).
Family history already mentioned...family have a love of sugar / desserts etc. Don't touch that shit in my opinion. My sister and I and our kids are the only ones without diabetes (although as I said since stomach gone I do get side effects like it).
Eat meat. Eat REAL BUTTER, animal fats etc Again the drs won't agree but low cholesterol scores ain't healthy and REAL food is not the problem. It's our heavy diets of sugar, artificial sugar and carbs.
Yet carbs are needed but not the levels they push.
Good luck
I dunno, been doing research for my sister who I think may have diabetes, can’t believe the amazing claims being said about milk kefir. My “grains” will arrive on Thursday I can’t wait
Heat issues look at this this link and use it to do your research on DMSO. For diabetes thoroughly research MMS. What these names mean is included in the linked information.
If I can answer any question you might have, just ask.

For example if you look just at the MMS Testimonials, their are 30 testimonials on use of MMS for diabetes. And this is old forum. There are probably many many more on the new forums, but their on platforms I do not access.
If you look at the MMS Health Recovery Guide Book link, you will find information on Diabetes. Watch The Universal Antidote - MMS Documentary to understand the healing potential of MMS. Use the other links to do your own research so you come to understand this.
I'm not a DR so do your own research as mine is limited. But, Ozempic is a diabetic medicine that is being studied for heart disease.
Sorry about the link (CNN) but it will give you a start as you research:

Ozempic is bad bad bad
You do realize that Ozempic and all GLP-1 drugs are derived from Gila Monster venom?
