Just hit me now, and maybe I'm way past my bedtime, but I always thought the rotation creates the gravity on planets. But the moon does not spin/turn. So how does the astronauts stay on the moon (if they were ever there)?

Mass generates gravity. Not rotation. The exact mechanism that occurs due to mass is still up for debate.
The moon does rotate. It’s phase locked because the time it takes to rotate one time on its own axis is almost perfectly equivalent to the time it takes to orbit the earth one time.
This phenomenon is called orbital resonance and occurs with other moons in our system, although our moon has the only 1:1 resonance.
Frequencies like to synchronize
You’re right. I got focused on the gravity thing and forgot about the special rotation.

The more Big Mac’ s you inhale the more gravity you have and finally you fall down.
I agree, go to bed. But to answer your question- these are 2 different things. Rotation does not create gravity. The mass of an object is what creates gravity. The "heavier" it is, the more gravitational attraction. It doesn't matter if it moves, spins, or flips. It is the mass (what we usually call weight) that creates gravity.
Mass generates gravity, are you confusing rotation with the centripetal force "artificial gravity" shown in sci-fi? The Moon does rotate, it is tidally-locked with the Earth so it rotates just fast enough as it orbits that the same side faces the Earth. Venus has similar gravity to the Earth being almost the same size even though it spins so slow that it's day is slightly longer than it's year.
'micro-gravity'' can be achieved on a rotating space-station due to centripical force. but thats not actual gravity its a mechanical force of physics
Go to bed John-gravity sucks, even on asteroids..

That is cute as a Chinese baby
...wags tail appreciatively....
Sniffs butt in approval
I cheated and copied and pasted this using AI,
"Yes, the moon rotates on its axis, and it takes the same amount of time to rotate as it does to orbit the Earth, which is about 27.322 days. This is called synchronous rotation, and it's a type of tidal locking. Because of this, the same side of the moon always faces Earth, which is called the near side, while the opposite side is called the far side. This means that the moon's day is as long as its year, and it appears almost stationary to observers on Earth".
The moon rotates. It rotates at the same speed as it traverses along its orbit.
Gravity is caused by mass deforming space-time.
Read a science book. Please.
I think he should read at least 2 science books. Only one is probably not enough to counteract the incredibly dense field of stupidity.
kek. this comment section did not disappoint
To be fair to OP, that is still theoretical science. Einstein never quite nailed down his theories on “why” gravity exists, but it does, and he nailed that down, and its measurable, testable, reproducible, and if you want to flex on gravity, gravity wins lol
This is a graphic showing how the moon rotates.
The moon does not rotate? I thought all planets rotate. 😯
The moon is a satellite in a geosynchronous orbit
Oh boy. Yes, you always see the same side of the moon from Earth. Also, there is a hexagon shaped storm on Saturn's north pole.
What's it look like on the other side of the moon? Are we ever going to know?
There have been craft that have flown to the other side and taken pictures. Supposedly some landings by unmanned craft.
If gravity is real why do boats float? Answer gravity is not real.
Not all boats float. Some sink.
No boats would float nor would you be able to stand up and move. Trees and plants would not stand.
Whatever...floats your boat 😁
Gravity would suck everything into the water and the water would crush anything put into it.
Displacement ever enter the conversation?
The displacement of all the millions of seagoing craft adds up to an answer to sea levels rising... Right??? 😊
Rotational Force is much closer to Anti-Gravity...
look into Electric Universe theory
Simple density.
The rotation thing is a separate matter that the mods here won't tolerate being discussed.
Density and buoyancy
Gravity is energy. E=MC2
