This is dumb. Yes they cover their shorts, that way they don't have to close them. Cover is not the same as close.
100% false on all levels. The short interest is probably 10000x the float. Not 20%. I do not exaggerate.
I stopped reading past that point. It's written by someone who got their info from MSM (who gets their talking points from short hedge funds)

I’ve read that they’re hiding them in ETFs and other vehicles somehow, but have no idea how to validate that. I don’t buy 20% at all though. Even 20% has resulted in historic squeezes in the past though.
Didn’t know about “cover” vs. “close”.
Just the general story was good catching up for me. I came into the story after the initial squeezing and haven’t followed it quite as closely as maybe should be done.

Usually a little while after closing, the numbers are adjusted as all the final numbers up and down come in. I suspect this is because lots of brokers buy the shares in batches and they need to settle the books at the close of market.

Because close price impacts potentially Billions in options settlement.
You probably know about the tricks they use to buy the stock a millisecond before us peasants get it. They do that several thousands of times an hour and make lots of pennies per trade. They do the same with selling so they always wring out every ounce of profit.
I imagine that when you apply ALL those tricks to every type of call, put, limit & market order it takes the computers some time to clean up the fuzzy math.

Off hour trading was presumably so that big institutions, like fund managers, could do large trades in big blocks without rocking the market hours. so we are told. now that Wall Street is looking for every single penny, some retail brokers allow you to trade for a couple of hours before and after the market just like institutions. (after signing a contract)
off hour trading is more volatile (for retailers) as the volume is different, usually lower, than day hours.

On Fox Business today Liz Claman was arguing with Gasparino about GME. He called it a crappy stock and seemed a bit unhinged. She said it didn't look that bad and that she had seen worse. She talked about all the capital they have. He was having a fit about how terrible the stock was. She looked irritated with him and told him he will have to watch Roaring Kitty tomorrow at noon. They will talk again at the end of the market tomorrow. So, we will see! I think that kitty is getting to him. Lol!

BedBathBeyond was run into bankruptcy by corrupt hedge funds. One of their subsidiaries (BuyBuyBaby) is a multi-billion company. In the (ongoing) Chapter 11 of BBBY it looks like "Baby" was carved out and is going to relist, and the BBBY ticker symbol was preserved.
Depending on how much you buy into clues, and online "tin foil" theories, we're very close, with some signs pointing to news being released this weekend. If so, the timing of GME + BBBY together would be catastrophic for the shorts.
GME is the army battling shorts, but BBBY may be the nuke.

No, when we entered Chapter 11 the judge halted trading for anyone holding more than 4.5% of the company, and then, later, everyone was locked out. We can't even see our shares currently; nobody (long or short) can trade, we're paused so no funny business can happen during this process.
I searched my couch and car ashtray to scratch up just enough to buy 17 shares a few months before they were de-listed.
I bought some GME at 11:17 AM this week. Was quite a coincidence.
